The poster above is pretty great.  Would be great if they could get my Maplewood NJ neighbor's last name correctly spelled, though - it's "EBERSOLE" with an "E" on the end...you would think after 2 Tony awards, we'd know how to spell it...then again, Liza's last name is still often mis-spelled as well "Minelli" "Minneli" etc...

With the current Broadway art, I do love the use of various luscious shades of red and purple in the lettering, reflecting the "war paint" of these two titans of make-up in an iconic way...

Anyone in midtown know if the box office is open for this? I'm going to be in the city on Saturday and would love to save the nearly $50 in Ticketmaster fees by purchasing in person.

I find that FB artwork to be WAY too busy.  The title almost gets lost.  Edit down half of what's in it to focus on a style and it could be more effective.

The prices are steep. This show won't last long past the initial surge of gay men and diehard fans. It had modest success in Chicago in a short run in a small venue. $250 and $199 for orchestra and opening in winter. I smell discounts early on this one. I really liked the show, but they should be trying to get people in the door. Even with those names, those are high prices. There's little to no sets. It's all the ladies.

I had the good fortune to see this in Chicago - really looking forward to seeing how they beef it up for Broadway.  The strong performances of the leads made the rest of the production seem slightly unfulling - at least to me.  However - the potential is there for so much more!

I'm seeing this for Patti LuPone and also the costumes. I am begrudgingly seeing Christine Ebersole, who I think is a bunch of bananas spouting dangerous beliefs.

I also hope Patti Cohenour stays with the show and goes on for Ebersole so then I can see it for the dueling Pattis.

Love it! I gotta say #TeamRubinstein for the obvious Patti reason, and also because I use her lipsticks exclusively...

Am I missing a story here about Ebersole? What's wrong with how she thinks?

She's a 9/11 truther who thought the attacks on September 11th were an inside job orchestrated by the government so we could merge currencies with Mexico and have the Amero.

Anti-vax is a hard and fast line for me, though. I think you're crazy if you believe 9/11 was an inside job, but ultimately I don't see that as being harmful to others. Being an anti-vaxxer is dangerous to other people.

Or better yet, read this recap.

Side note, Ebersole's Twitter account seems to be no more. Any chance the producers of War Paint put the kibosh on that?

Ebersole is clearly a fool, but I can put up with it if she doesn't start advocating during curtain call.

Love this quote from her "Ebersole: I've been told this will destroy me. This is my duty as an American citizen and a child of God, to speak truth to power."

A 'child of God'? Hahahaha. There is no truth to be spoken of here.

Ebersole can be pretty nutty, but she's still a fantastic performer.

y'all just because Christine is off her rocker does not negate how fabulously talented she is.

It's true. I can't wait to see her perform "Pink", which from what I have gathered seems like by far the best song in the show and I can't imagine anyone doing too much better than her. And her work in Grey Gardens speaks for itself.

But it is a bit comical that behind this talent lies an anti-vaccination, 9/11 conspiracy theorizing, (at one stage) registered republican, 'child of God' who believes she is close to the truth.

I'm glad I can separate my enjoyment of her work from her reasoning ability and out there beliefs - the less I know about her personal life the better.

It actually can negate her talent depending on your personal convictions.  When I saw her in War Paint, knowing the things she's said certainly soured my opinion of her enough to have a visceral reaction of distaste when she appeared on stage.  It didn't help that she only delivered the one standout song of the show well and the rest of her performance was pretty bland and by this time, almost completely forgotten.  I honestly saw the show for the creative team and for Patti.  I wouldn't buy a ticket to anything based on Ebersole's name.

^ I had a similar feeling about seeing Phylicia Rashad in the Sunday in the Park with George concert. I didn't want to see her, I didn't want to acknowledge her presence with applause, and I would never buy a ticket based on her name alone.

(This is one reason I don't love when performers are on social media. I was really bummed to find out about Ebersole's beliefs, because I've always liked her as a performer. I didn't seek the information, but it was put out there, it's something I strongly disagree with and that makes her someone I'm not really interested in supporting anymore. She has every right to voice her beliefs, but she has to know that it will make her product that much harder to sell.)
