I am coming to New York soon, a theatre thing I am sure you understand.

Anyway I am going to go and overnight in Toronto, to see Come From Away and Matilda, I will be staying in the Garment district on 39th Street. So wondering what would be the easiest airport to get to? I will be close to both 42nd Street Subway and Port Authority Coach Station.

do you reckon that the hotel ai am staying in and going back to stay will hold my luggage for 36 hours, I don't want to haul a large case all the way to Toronto for a brief stay?

Cheers

Phantom, most hotels provide luggage storage.  However, they may not store yours for that amount of time.  They may charge you a fee or you may have to tip an employee. Make sure you remind them you are coming back in a day or so as a guest.  If all else fails, there are luggage storage companies in that area.  As far as airports, you are convenient to all 3(including EWR).  You can take the subway across the street from Port Authority to go to JFK.  There is a shuttle that goes to JFK that you catch in front of Port Authority.  Or taxi or uber. There is a shuttle you can catch to go to LGA outside of Port Authority.  Or take taxi/uber.  To EWR, there is a shuttle also outside of Port Authority.  Or you can take the train.  Or taxi/uber.  I guess it all depends on who has the best airline ticket price...then go from there.

It's almost like saying which circle of hell do you prefer.

All things being equal, I think JFK for so many reasons is the least horrific of all three abominations.  Faint praise indeed.

If you're going to Toronto, I'd suggest flying Porter Airlines out of Newark. They're the only airline that will fly you direct to their city center airport. Otherwise, you'll end up at the other airport that's (if I remember correctly) almost an hour away from the city.

There is a new rail link between Toronto Airport and Union Station and takes 25 minutes, so flying from La Guardia to Toronto, but flying back with Porter Airlines to Newark from Toronto City Centre Airport.

I also going up to Boston for 5 hours with JetBlue on Monday from La Guardia - however do you think I can get back to a Broadshow via subway at Astoria, my flight lands at La Guardia at 6:34?

thanks for the reply so far.

If your flight lands at 6:34, you have a very tight window...

I'd put the train from Astoria to Times Square between 20-30 minutes depending on how long you wait for the train...

In theory, if the flight lands on time and you can get to the train station quickly, you may be able to make an 8 o'clock curtain...

It also should be noted that Come From Away and Matilda will not be in Broadway at the same time.

EDIT: Missed that you were going to Toranto! Sorry!

Matilda and Come From Away, huh. May I ask where you got your Time-Turner, so I can go and get one?

Just an FYI coming back thru City Center   (TO) To get to the island there is both a ferry service & a tunnel that u can cross thru under the lake. The tunnel takes sl less time as u don't have to wait for the ferry  to return or disembark. ( altho, it is the recorded shortest ferry ride in the world) There is also a free shuttle to  City Center   located  a block away from Union Station in front of the Citi Group building

OH and Porter has a dedicated  lounge area- w Free coffee ,tea (  the nice  kind)  bottled water, juice biscotti  or shortbread cookies as long as your not obviously stocking up, pretty much unlimited. Same in Newark tho not as much selection.. The plane is sl noisy from the props but I prefer Porter now to Air Canada.

ENJOY!

If you use JFK or LGA, you can get a round trip to and from the airport for $26, using NYC Airporter. I believe EWR is slightly more expensive.

Thanks looking forward to it. I plan to spend late morning and early afternoon on the islands anyway, as they look cool, before flying back to Newark for a evening show, so big advantage that the airport is on the islands, than relying on getting to Pearson's Airport.

it will cost me abou €80 to take my case to Toronto to check this into the plane hold, also hassle, waiting at the airport and wheeling a case around. So I don't need to take it with me, all I need to take with me is a night bag. So is there anywhere I can store my baggage near to port authority bus station or do hotels hold luggage for 36 hours in their store room?

If you do a search there are two companies on 46th street that will hold your luggage for $10 a day, if your hotel won't hold it.  That is much cheaper than 80 pounds.
