Looking for a full-service, late-night dining option for a show that gets out at around 11pm on a Friday. Can anyone recommend a good restaurant (not fast food) in the theater district that's open for dining until at least 1am? Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

The Westway. It's not fancy, but it's cheap, mostly delicious, and the menu probably has anything you might be in the mood for.

There's so much open late near the theatre district. If you venture towards 8th or 9th avenue, you're guaranteed to find something that fits what you're looking for. Recently, I've been going to any of the Yum Yums (I think there's 2 left). It's pretty good (and reasonably priced Thai food) on 9th avenue and 46th street.

Joe Allen is always the best place to eat before or after a show, I say. But you'll need a reservation.

Any specific cuisine you're interested in (or, perhaps more relevant, not interested in)? Full bar? Price range?

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

Thank you to those who took the time to respond and offer their suggestions.

Pretty much any type of cuisine with the exception of Japanese and Thai. I love both, but my dinner guest does not.

themysteriousgrowl mentioned The Westway Diner, which might work. Has anyone been to Times Square Diner & Grill? Looks interesting, and little less diner-ish than Westway.

I also recommend Westway. Clean, good service, and a very expansive menu with good quality diner food.

A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.

Westway is fine but if you're looking for something more than diner fare, I enjoy Glass House Tavern. On 47th, basically next to the Brooks Atkinson. Full service until 2 or 3 am most days.

I just love a Joe Allen cheeseburger after a show. Their fries are great and I'd recommend a cup of their black bean soup if it's on the menu.

Whenever I'm in town I usually stay in Hell's Kitchen, and the Theatre Row Diner is my favorite haunt.

Joe Allen is fine for occasional stargazing but the food, not so much.  John's Pizza, which serves much more than pizza, is reliable as is Etc., which is a bit more upscale.  West Bank Cafe is also a good go-to.

Hey, I live across the street from  the Westway Diner, not a big fan of it anymore really, but DO recommend highly a newish (4 month old) all day/nite Dim Sum/Chinese joint called DIM SUM PALACE. Super fresh, delish.  Stick with the dim sum, the other dishes, a bit pricey and not as good. Unbelievably, it s on that heinous tourist trap, Restaurant Row (46th st).  Yet, it s really good! , cheap, great cocktails and open till 2 am.  They also still feature a promotional fantastic half price Happy Hour, drinks AND dim sum betw 3-6 pm.  it s a small place.  Don t confuse it with that other dim sum place on the same block.  That one sucks.  Happy Dining!
