1. I think it's pretty loud, from what I remember.
2. The stage door is around the corner on 50th street by the Applebee's.

It gets louder than your average Broadway musical, but not as loud as a rock concert or club/bar. It's tastefully done, IMO. If you're concerned about volume, better pick up a pair of these. Probably a good idea to have them in general, if you've got sensitive hearing.
I have that exact pair of earplugs to which trpguyy linked, and I always wear them to concerts. They're great! As for the show, I don't think it's loud enough to warrant using them, but to be on the safe side, just bring earplugs. If you feel uncomfortable, you can just pop them in.
I have only seen it from the front row rush seats, but I can say it did not hurt nearly as much as Hedwig did from further back in the orch (and in the mezz).

I have Asperger's and am especially sensitive to loud noises and other such sensations. I saw School of Rock from the front row via Rush tickets. The sound did not really bother me, and did not feel that much louder than any of the others shows I had seen that weekend (my viewing of School of Rock was the 6th in one weekend, after which I had previously seen other shows, including also being within the first few rows for Matilda and The Color Purple - I did not notice School of Rock as being noticeably louder than those two). it didn't feel too loud or anything. The problem to me I think was the lights - it became hard for me to enjoy the show at several points because my eyes would just be constantly watering from the focus and being so close to the lights, so I was having to constantly wipe my face while trying to enjoy the show. Despite that, I still loved what I saw, and would definitely see it again - just if I did see it again I'd shell out the money to sit a little further back.
Last night was magical. Alex changed a few of the lines and he, along with the entire cast, were the best I have seen them. The nine who left will surely be missed but I am excited to check out this new cast in the future.

I did! It was my first time actually seeing the show and I absolutely loved it. I'm kicking myself for not seeing it sooner. It was emotional and Alex crying when hugging the kids in the If Only You Would Listen (Reprise) made me bawl. The crowd was on fire and it was just an absolute blast and a fun time! I would see again in a heartbeat.
I did notice Spencer's line changes. It was very clever and funny.
Yes, when Bobbie was singing the Act 2 If Only You Wold Listen and she had tears in her eyes and Alex was crying, that was very emotional and an amazing reason why live theater is truly the best. She was right, "School won't be the same without (him) hear."
