Divorce-HBO Parker and Church are Slaying#1

I think that HBO is trying to get the word out on their new shows. With football and the debates on tomorrow night, the premiere episodes of "Divorce" and "Insecure" (along with the 2nd episode of "Westworld"Divorce-HBO Parker and Church are Slaying have been put up already on HBO GO and On Demand for early viewing.

Considering all the Trump talk this weekend, it's very funny to hear the word "****" used so much in both of the comedies.

"Divorce" seems like it could very well be a new hit. It's a dramedy with a great cast, Sarah Jessica Parker, Thomas Haden Church, Molly Shannon, Tracy Letts...the script is pretty tight and the episode ends in a very different place from where it starts. Also, Parker and Church are very good with their snappy dialogue and top notch acting.

"Insecure" is also very, very good. I wouldn't call it a "black Girls" or "black SATC", (there aren't 4 girls yet), but I thought the pilot was very strong. Produced, written, acted by Issa Rae with help from Larry Wilmore. Rae is really funny, the "****" word comes up a lot more in "Insecure" and HBO is even letting them use "niggas" in the dialogue.

The 2nd episode of "Westworld" was again very good, introducing still several new cast members. I like all three of the new HBO Sunday shows so along with "John Oliver", it's once again "Not TV, It's HBO".

Watched the first episode of DIVORCE today on HBO NOW. Loved it! Didn't even know that Molly Shannon was going to be in it. Love her! Thought it was dark, nasty and fun! Hope the rest of the series lives up to the potential of the pilot.

Divorce-HBO SJP and Church are Slaying!#3

If you haven't seen "Divorce" yet, you should check it out. Thomas Haden Church is giving new meaning to deadpan sarcasm. (I saw him onstage and can't remember what it was; guess its imbd). SJP has another meaty role. Tracy Letts and Molly Shannon are a kind of "George and Martha" to the max...so funny. This week's show is very good.

HBO sure loves Jesse Peretz. This show will probably be around a while. Does anyone know where they are shooting in the city? or it could be CT I guess ?

I'm loving this. Drama with some humor thrown in. SJP is doing a fine acting job. I think the writing is the winner here. Not fond of Thomas Haden Church though. I don't find  him easy to look at, but more important, I hate his acting choices. The other husband is also yech.

Can't wait for the next episode, lol!

I am watching Divorce and I actually think Church is kind of annoying. The performance rings false to me. I know he has a knack for being deadpan but his performance does not seem three dimensional nor truthful.

Also, he's playing this man as a whiny, vengeful child. I don't know if it's his only style, but it's so annoying.
