This makes me sad. When I saw him in place of Daveed back in July, he was clearly the weakest link and couldn't keep up with the rapping to save his life. Maybe he's improved, but he did sully my Hamilton experience quite a bit

I'm not shocked they picked him over Andrew Chappelle (the superior of the two covers). Chappelle is a swing and also covers Mulligan/Madison & Laurens/Philip. Much harder to replace him unfortunately.

I'm not shocked either but I also think that Seth's Laf/Jef is superior to Andrew's. Seth is fantastic, and Seth has earned it. I'm happy for him.
I wonder if that means Seth is only contracted through December or if it means the show has someone in mind already for the role who isn't available until after the new year.

Those two things aren't mutually exclusive. I think both are true.
It does appear that they couldn't find anyone else to replace in this track, so they decided to give it to Seth. Well deserved, but it's annoying that they didn't do this in July.
I was hoping to see Chappelle , based on things I've read here, but I really enjoyed Seth's performance, and am happy to see him take over the role full time. His Lafayette is perfectly fine, but I think he's very good as Jefferson, and since he's been around since the beginning, he has very believable camaraderie with Oak and Anthony onstage.

I saw him in September and completely agree. I know there are people who really like him, but I'm disappointed. Especially after the long wait, I was hoping they were working on getting someone who could measure up to Daveed, or at least come close.
I've only seen the show once, and Andrew played Laf/Jeff and I thought he was fantastic. Given the general comments on the main Hamilton thread, on the board I felt lucky to have seen him. He wasn't quite able to pull off Guns and Ships, but I don't know how anyone can rap that fast while affecting an extreme french accent. I have been wondering ever since then: has anyone seen all three (Daveed/Seth/Andrew) in this role? I would love to know the main ways the there were different from one another.
