I am going to be in NYC from Dec. 17th to Jan. 2nd. I plan to see a few shows. I'm going to see Falsettos as I love Christian Borle! I think I'd like to see Fiddler on the Roof. Dear Evan Hanson wasn't even on my radar until today I heard about it on Sirius Julie James and heard a song from it. Any opinions on the show. It sounds awesome.
Dear Evan Hansen was one of my favorite things I saw last season when I saw it at Second Stage. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Ben Platt's performance is not to be missed.
"There’s nothing quite like the power and the passion of Broadway music. "
Thank you! That's what I am thinking-it sounds like Ben Platt really makes the show and since I won't be back till the summer I should see it in December.
Both Dear Evan Hansen and Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812 are both brilliant musicals. I can't possibly recommend them both any more. I saw Dear Evan Hansen twice back at Second Stage and it's mind-blowing (cried several times). Ben Platt and company are great and the writing is brilliant. I saw Great Comet back at the Kazino, and it's a life-changing musical. It's unlike anything I've ever seen.
I initially saw a preview of Dear Evan Hansen at Arena Stage in DC based on some really early buzz after its first week. I loved it and ended up returning several more times and got a Second Stage flex subscription in NY specifically to lock in DEH tickets, because as I suspected, it became a very hot ticket Off-Broadway after reviews came out and sold out the reminder of the run as it had in DC.
Ben Platt delivers a very emotional performance and I'm sure it'll be much talked about throughout this season, so if you can fit it into your trip this sooner rather than waiting for summer, I definitely would.
