Funny Girl Tour with Sheridan Smith

Was shocked to see this in the inbox from the Bristol Hippo that Sheridan will be staring in the tour version  when its there March 2017 - would have expected her to have other work or just finish with the show when it ends at the savoy - cue rush for tickets - the email does state that producers cannot guarantee any artist performance

Great news and nice to see a major star performer in the provinces

Maybe under her contract, she is required to make up for the time she missed at the Savoy for "technical difficulties"

I'm stunned!

I saw it at the Savoy with Natasha Barnes and hated it but would give it another chance with Sheridan.

What a ridiculous notion. Obviously you have no idea how contacts work. Also why be snide in referring to "technical difficulties" when the reasons for her absences have been in the public domain.  

A mean spirited, bitchy post. Good on her for getting back on track and wanting to do the tour.

Yes. My comment was snide, even a little mean.  

But, I am very familiar with how contracts work, and neither of us know (1) what is in Smith's contract and (2) what really happened with Smith.  There is plenty of rumour, innuendo, hearsay and speculation.  But, the facts are known only to those directly involved with the production.  And, if Smith's conduct was in breach of her contract, agreeing to do some tour performances could go a ways towards remedying that breach.  This is complete unsubstantiated speculation, but it is far from ridiculous.  The UK message boards seem to indicate that since her return, Smith has been doing a fine job and she may be doing the tour simply to continue to restore her reputation.  That may be the more likely possibility.

But yes, kp, good for her for getting back up on stage.

Maybe she should expect some snippiness after we were all treated like idiots at the start of her absence with the whole "technical difficulties" smokescreen.  

Given events of the past three months I was considering posting, "Who is playing Fanny in Sheridan Smith's tour of 'Funny Girl'?", but then couldn't be bothered.  Oh well, done it now.
