Hey Guys, have you all heard of a new Off-Broadway show called THE REAL ACTORS OF NYC? I hear its really funny and smart! Check it out.

Haha...yeah, I'm the writer. But you all should know that these boards are part of the inspiration for writing the show in the first place. You know, once in a while there's some serious shade being thrown on these chat boards.

The show is about actors dealing with all of the difficulties/shade they encounter in this business, and in this case they decide they've had enough and well, you'd have to go or read someone's review of the show to see what happens. Klea Blackhurst is gloriously starring as Mumz, a Broadway baby of a bygone era who actually performs an amputation in Act 2.

I'm writing here to ask for your help. As part of our PR campaign, we want to start doing a daily "moment of shade." So, if you have examples, and I know you do, of serious shade being thrown in the musical theatre world, please share it here and we may feature it on our Facebook page: @realactorsofnyc #raonyc

Don't hate me for promoting my little show. I'm a Richard Rodgers Award Winner with a fierce desire to be HEARD!

Preview start this Saturday, and I have a sweet discount code if you share something fun and shady or just message me.

XOXO

Hi Karlan!

Once I was in a show, Legally Blonde, and was cast as Pilar. It was a local production so a lot of the cast were friends with the director. One of the girls couldn't dance well so she wasn't given Pilar. Instead they gave her all of Pilar's non-movement scenes. WHY IS THIS BUSINESS ALL ABOUT CONNECTIONS!?

- Sincerely, a frustrated actor!

Nothing is shadier than sleeping with your cast member's boyfriends while you're on a gig!

I don't have any moments of shade to share -- but I'm a huge fan of Klea Blackhurst.  I saw her one-woman show about Ethel Merman and I think it was in that show where she admitted to writing a school paper about Ms. Merman when she was in the fifth grade.  I think of Klea as the theater equivalent of the 7' tall NBA star -- she was born to be onstage, no doubt about it.  I've seen her guest host Jim Caruso's Cast Party, and it's ironic that she'd be in a show about throwing shade because she is so encouraging and supportive of other performers -- add that to her acting and singing skills (what pipes!) -- AND the fact that she plays the trumpet -- I would't be surprised to find out that she also directs.  I'm rooting for this show!

That moment when the actor tells you they don't like the costume that you worked SEVERAL DAYS ON and if you could please change it?  Sorry, you're an actor and you need to preform in what we created (unless it's uncomfortable or impedes you in some way), not what you think is best.

I'm an actor and had to learn this hard lesson quickly.
