South Park Gets It Right Again

Kudos to Trey and Matt. The season starts out with the National Anthem, JJ Abrams, and MR Garrison and Caitlyn Jenner for Prez/Vice Prez.

It's amazing how they were able to incorporate so much recent news into this episode. Family guy or the Simpsons would never be able to do that.

3 days after Tim Tebow won his first game they had that in the script twice.  Gotta see this new one.

Call_Me_Jorge, Family guy and Simpsons use a more traditional 2-D animation style. South Park I all computerized. They can turn out an episode in two days.

I understand. It's in my understanding the Simpsons and family guy prepare 9 months in advance(I could be wrong) and isn't most of the animation done in South Korea?

Yes, most of it is. I believe South Park is produced here however, I might be wrong.

There is a great documentary about their production process from 2011 called 6 Days to Air. It followed them on their six day production process for a typical episode (this documentary was filmed during the production of the season 15 episode one "Human Centipad".

Didn't it start with them in New York for Book of Mormon? That's why they had such a time crunch. I'm pretty sure they have more than 6 days normally.

Sometimes they do, but they have also said that there are many episodes that are turned in to Comedy Central hours before they are supposed to air. The 2008 episode "About Last Night" was similarly done in a super-time crunch, since it revolved around the results of the 2008 election and aired the night after (hence the title).

If I recall correctly, the documentary started with Stone and Parker finishing up with their time in NYC for Book of Mormon. To me, it felt like it started off as an "ok, our work here's done, time to go back to the usual daily grind" type of feel. 

Regardless, unlike The Simpsons or Family Guy which plan out their seasons/episodes well in advance, South Park does the opposite.

Even if they aren't creating every episode up until Wednesday morning, they have a remarkable flexibility to make last-minute alterations to reflect topical events.

I came of age during South Park's early days.  I still love the show, but, God, their hard core libertarianism can be a bit much at times.

I think alot of people agree with this, Just trying to figure out who is douche and who is turd sandwich.

The biggest reason people are voting for Hilary is that she is not Trump. The people who want Trump mostly are because she is not Hilary or Obama.

Well, South Park was right on time again last night with the episode being primarily about the Presidential Debate from Monday. They did identify Trump as the giant douche and Clinton as the turd sandwich. The debate and the outcome come off (I won't spoil it) with the effing SP "take no prisoners" attitude. It really does succinctly talk about the absolute feud going on about the election, how it's affecting our friends, family, neighbors. Cartman walks around wearing a "Token's Life Matters" t-shirt as he is "exposed" as an internet troll. Trey Parker and Matt Stone ( and their team) really do know how to hit you about things to make you think. This is a really good episode you should watch, even the "memberberries" are back.

I really hope they have another musical in their heads for the future.

It seems like the whole season will center around the election, that's a first.  I strongly recommend this season, SP can be very lame at times but these first 3 episodes of this season are great.  It's a series this year folks, so catch up.  They don't need to do another musical, they keep it fresh.

My favorite part of last nights episode was the berries in the car and opening the trunk. So wacky, yet hysterical.

Here's the cleverest part: the song is a Danish Christmas ballad about a suicidal maiden who, upon receiving bad news, jumps to her death... which just happens to be the biggest plot point of the season.
