Hi everyone, 

In December I will be auditioning for a high school production of Spelling Bee and I was hoping for some audition song suggestions. I am a tenor with D3 as my lowest note and I can sing a falsetto C quite comfortably (the one at the end of Corner of the Sky.)

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Spelling Bee is a very character based show, so you're probably going to want a comedic, heavily characterized song. A song from Drowsy Chaperone or Avenue Q would be suitable; however, if you wanted to show off some more range while still showing your acting ability, I highly recommend Santa Fe from Newsies. this song is high on emotion but it does get rather high. It gets to an A4 (a few semitones under the Top C you mentioned but this would have to be in chest voice, not in falsetto) and it is held for quite a long time. If you can pull it off, it's a great choice but don't sing it if you can't sing it well - Drowsy Chaperone is full of songs that are suitable for an audition for Spelling Bee

Thank you so much! I will definitely take this into consideration. One of my friends actually recommended Santa fe, so I'll definitely try that.
