I was at the matinee, there was a water main break and they were having air conditioning problems, the performance started an hour late. Throughout the end of the first act all the way to the end there was a constant banging coming from the floor, assuming it was a pipe. Couldn't serve any fountain of mixed drinks and the water in the toilets was brown and not flushing right. Was a long afternoon, was so hot in there! But the show went off without a hitch, bravo to the cast!

After entering the Cats Lottery for every day since the first preview, finally won tonight Cats Cancelled Performance  BroadwayDirect sent an email out saying that they would not be honoring the tickets for a future date.  Totally disappointed. I wouldn't even have minded standing in the back of the orchestra on another date.  Just not very cool in my opinion.

surprised the matinee went on as well considering everything.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

You feel entitled to that random lottery win for a cancelled performance? It's not their fault (BroadwayDirect's).

I don't think they were saying they were entitled to a lottery ticket. I agree that really sucks. I know it's not broadwaydirects fault but as someone who cas constantly trying to win, and finally won on Monday I would have been pissed too if I finally won tonight.

How many lottery tickets do they give out?  If it's around 10 or so, they could have provided an alternative for a future performance.  From what I read on here, it's not sold out. I agree with BrodwayLuv2.   I wouldn't have been happy either.  Entitlement has NOTHING to do with it.  It's called customer service.  And if I would have sat there with a constant banging from the floor, I would have requested a refund or tickets to another show  date of my choosing.

When I won the lotto for Fun Home on the day of the blizzard, TodayTix called me that day and offered to honor my lottery win for any future performance. I know this isn't weather related, but they should have still offered the winners tickets to another performance IMO.

What a mess! I walked by the theatre tonight around 9:15 after having dinner with a friend and I guess no one told the pedicab guys, because they were all lined up. There were signs on the doors about the canceled performance, but only on the rightmost doors.

Also, I didn't see any kind of maintenance truck or anything outside.

What a stroke of good fortune for that audience.

Are you sure they were working on the pipes during the performance?  Sometime pipes will make a clanging sound if if there are issues, so the sound may have just been a side effect of the problem.

I'm not sure what they were doing, but it did not sound like clanging pipes. It was much louder and forceful. It was the sound of an impact. Another patron said they were working on the AC.

It was an absolute disgrace and embarrassment to the producers and theater management. The performers carried on like pros, but I could not even appreciate it or stay transfixed because of all of the distracting issues."

Sorry for your experience. I fully agree, this performance should have been cancelled...

They set aside 50 tickets for lottery tickets. I was told this by one of the box office staff members

That's more than I thought.  It is still doable.  Instead of 50 winners each day, for five days you do 40 plus 10 each day from the list from the cancelled performance. If the people can't make that performance, at least an alternative was offered for them.  Just saying.

Nederlander really should have better customer service and treat audiences and potential audiences with more respect.

Trust me, it was a good thing your performance was canceled. Even though I think the performers and stage crew did a good job, I now feel negatively towards Cats and the production. The experience was tainted with frustration, annoyance, discomfort, and disrespect. And the emotions are what you remember looking back and grow to associate with the brand. I really wish the performance I attended was canceled because it was a disservice to the audience, the performers, and the spirit of live theater. You can always get another ticket, but you cannot easily repair negative feelings associated with a brand.

Anthony, I had a similar experience with Nederlander "customer service".  I am dredging up old bitchin but when Evita played at the Marriot Marquis, I was sitting in the upper mezz near the exit.  The ushers who were working the section near the exit doors would slam the door or allow customers to do it when entering /exiting.  It was really distracting from the performance.  I complained to the House Manager who blew me off.  I then sent an email to Nederlander Management.  I'm still waiting all these years later for a response.
