Tickets for the new Carnegie Hall season go on presale this Monday, 8/22 for subscribers and members. On Friday, 8/26, the presale is extended to anyone who pays with his or her MasterCard. On Monday, 8/29, the sale is open to the general public.

Three events that might interest people here are

(1) the solo Carnegie Hall debut of Kelli O'Hara on Saturday, October 29.

(2) the New York Pops presents The Musical World of Lerner and Loewe, with guest performers Laura Osnes, Nathan Gunn and Colin Donnell, on Friday, October 14, at 8:00 pm.

(3) the New York Pops presents: Life is a Cabaret: The Songs of Kander and Ebb with guest performers Joshua Henry and Caissie Levy, on Friday, March 10 at 8:00 pm

If you want to see Kelli on the cheap, she is booked to appear at the Staller Center of Stony Brook University, located on the North Shore of Suffolk County, Long Island in Stony Brook, on Saturday, December 10.  Tickets are $48 and the only remaining ones are in the last five rows out of thirty on the Main Stage. But the venue only seats 1000, so you won't be distant, and this appearance in a university setting should be much less formal than Carnegie Hall.

Thank you for posting this information.  Does anyone know if there is a way to get a rough idea of the cost of tickets before they are on sale?  I will be in NYC at this time and have no idea how the cost of something like this compares to a show Broadway.

The first two events are going to be popular and they are not far off. Suggest that if you have a MasterCard you shop the Presale that opens up next Friday, 8/26 for card holders, and you can see all the prices.

Working backwards from my subscription price, and adding back the discount they say I'm getting, orchestra seats (they call it the Parquet) would range from $100 to $135. The best balcony seats maybe $55.

I subscribed to a concert package that doesn't include the Kelli O'Hara concert. Do you know how the presale will work? Will they email a code?

I don't know for certain, but I'm almost certain that they are not going to be sending you any code.

I think that you don't have to do anything except sign on to your account. From your email address their system will look into your account and verify that you're a current subscriber.

It's possible that you might have to enter your name and account number but I don't think that it will be even that complicated.

What is happening? I was online exactly at 8. I've spent the last 8 minutes trying to look at tickets in different sections only to get the same error message. Are they sold out? They can't be. I wouldn't just get the error page. And also, you can't call.

@gimlet2 No, it doesn't. For anyone wondering, if you're still not having luck online just call the number and stay on the line. Eventually you'll be able to get through and buy tickets. It helps to have your account number on hand and maybe know your price range/have a seating chart.

I didn't have any problem, signing on about 11:00, going to the Kelli O'Hara event page, and selecting the Buy button there on the page. As an old database developer, almost certainly the Carnegie Hall system was overwhelmed by more ticket buyers than it could handle in that first hour or more.

Mid Parquet (orchestra)     O'Hara    $96

                                        Lerner and Loewe    $118

Front Balcony                   O'Hara    $31

                                       Lerner and Loewe      $49

L & L tickets will be harder to come by because there are already so many subscribers to their series.

Carnegie Hall must be holding back many good seats for the start of the MasterCard pre-sale since it would not be much of an incentive for MasterCard holders if most good seats were gone by the time they got there.

Pre-sale prices for Kelli O'Hara tickets:

Parquet (orchestra), First Tier, Second Tier Center, and Dress Circle Front (I think this means the first two rows of the Dress Circle): $96

Second Tier Side and Dress Circle (other than Dress Circle Front):  $61

Balcony:  $31

Each section other than Parquet and First Tier also has some obstructed-view seats at lower prices.

The pre-sale prices usually include a discount for subscribers (the brochure that was sent to subscribers in the mail says "Prices guaranteed through August 25, 2016" on the cover), so I would expect the above-listed prices to go up on Friday.

I don't know how familiar you are with Carnegie Hall, but the seating prices can be all over the place since there are four levels above the Orchestra (which they call the Parquet) 

They've made this concert pretty simple.

Parquet Mid, Front, Rear . . . . $96

Second Tier Center  . . . . . .  . .$96

Second Tier Sides . . . . . . . . . .$61

Dress Circle . . . . . . . . . . . . . .  $61

Be careful about the Parquet Front. The stage is very high.

I wouldn't swear to it, but this is my second year as a subscriber and I'm pretty sure that we don't get a discount when we buy tickets to a single show not part of a subscription. 

The exception is that we get a 15 percent discount to certain "select" shows, and "select" doesn't at all mean the most popular. We have access to the pre-sale and the right to exchange subscription tickets for any other event.

Right now, at 10:45, 15 minutes before the MasterCard presale begins, they have added no seats. Lerner and Loewe is virtually sold out except for the distant balcony. Or try bringing a wheelchair with you. Good wheechair seats still available.

Strange, since MasterCard is sponsoring the event, that there will be no seats for MasterCard holder unless they add more, which could happen.

Kelli O'Hara, still good seats available. In the Parquet (orchestra) you see the usual pattern of available seats in the rear rows of the center and the rear middle half of the sides. Good seats in tier2 and dress circle. As of a few minutes ago, blocks of two and three tickets in the front row center dress circle were available.

I don't know this for a fact, but I imagine that Joshua Henry won't be doing that Kander and Ebb show anymore. He'll be in Chicago playing Burr.

Purchasing Carnegie Hall tickets is not easy, but it should be.  It is 2016, and they need to update their system.  As a member who pays for inclusion in these sales, I should not be unable to buy tickets until they are virtually sold out of decent ones.

Just bought my tickets to see Kelli O'Hara...I am so excited! I can't wait to hear that glorious voice in Carnegie Hall. I wonder what songs she'll be singing...anyone have a dream setlist?

Forgot to mention that there are also tickets available for the April Pops concert with Adrienne Warren and Jonathan Groff.  The theme is singer/songwriters, so I'm expecting a lot of Carole King and James Taylor.  It's an interesting choice for those two.
