I hope they cut the rap and rock concert songs. The Bowie songs wasn't bad, but it really didn't fit in well with the show (and was the only song not specifically written for the show). And the whole plotline leading to the Super Starfish song needs to go. It doesn't work at all.
"What can you expect from a bunch of seitan worshippers?" - Reginald Tresilian
I really thought they'd go the concept album route, and do that before it goes to Broadway. It would be cool to see all the artists sing their own songs, but I wonder if they'll do something similar to fun home where they updated some songs from the CAst recording once they went to Broadway.
I prefer the album's lyrics to Home. I didn't see it on Broadway but when we did it at my high school Hime only had one verse then the bridge, is that how it was on Broadway?
i also wanted a concept album for this, I'm surprised we haven't heard about one.
"Contentment, it seems, simply happens. It appears accompanied by no bravos and no tears."
I just reread the Broadwayworld article about this, and I realized they aren't going to release this until it comes to Broadway. I was under the impression they would release it before they get to Broadway, but I might be the only one who thought that.
" "We are incredibly excited to capture this show with this cast right after our run in Chicago this summer," said co-conceiver and director Tina Landau and orchestrator, arranger and music supervisor Tom Kitt. "We look forward to releasing the album when this cast brings The SpongeBob Musical to Broadway." "
I haven't heard any of the songs from this yet but I've heard so much good things about the musical. Kind of disappointed that the Cast album won't be coming out until after the show's Broadway premiere though, even though they're recording it beforehand. What exactly would be the reason for doing that?
In any case, I'm really excited for this show. I've heard nothing but good things from Chicago, and once it does hit Broadway I'll have to definitely try to find room in my budget to make another NYC trip to go see it.
I don't know if there's a definitive date for Spongebob's arrival on Broadway, so it's entirely possible Nick will wrap Tick, Tick, Boom before Spongebob begins. Emmy Raver-Lampman is now a part of the Chicago company of Hamilton, so I assume she will not be joining it on Broadway (although she did leave the Broadway company for the pre-Broadway Chicago run).
"Anybody that goes to the theater, I think we’re all misfits, so we ended up on stage or in the audience.” --- Patti LuPone.
Well if rumors of the transfer happening in February are true, doing a show that ends in mid-November shouldn't be a big deal. Good for Nick, not wasting any time.

Emmy could just be leaving the Hamilton chi production early, which I hope doesn't happen, because I'm supposed to be seeing in February and would love to see her perform again, even if it's in the ensemble.
