How long do you think Paramour will last? Also, since Paramour is a big show, what do you think its nut may be?

It likely will last for a while. They have too much invested. It's also pulling down $1 million per week.

The theater is also too huge for the average show.

Have it from an insider. Their nut this week is macadamia. Their weekly nut may be cashew next week.  Too early to tell.

I'm hoping it stays for a while, because Bret Shuford is one of my favorite actors and I'd hate to see him jobless, lol.

You are way too green on here to already be bashing board veterans. And your initial joke wasn't even funny enough to be defensive of anyway.

And as much as I dislike seeing a Broadway theater occupied by what's not really a Broadway show, they're not doing too shabby financially. It won't be forever, but it won't be too soon.

I'm not looking to bash anyone, but if someone initiates something with me, I will respond and I don't think there should be a seniority requirement to defend oneself. I wasn't being nasty to anyone or criticizing anyone. I made a silly joke. If you don't like my humor, don't laugh.  And I apologize if I disrupted a thread where people with no actual knowledge of the show's plans were pulling random guesses out of their rear ends. Carry on.

Honestly the Lyric is too big to house most musicals unless another Wicked / super Disney franchise takes up residence there. Better for it to stay open with a show even if its quality is........ er. questionable, rather than stay dark,

And remember, Cirque has a whole different financial situation then most producers . . . and could keep the show running through lean weeks to get to the more financial lucrative weeks.  And the theater's owners probably don't have people lining up to get in there.

Well said. Good for you. For whatever reason, some people seem to have it in for newcomers here. Unfortunate. In any case, welcome to this board.

As for Paramour, I'm glad to see it doing good business. Broadway desperately needs musicals that do not lecture, affront, condescend to or stick it to the audience. May it prosper.

I don't really think it's fair to say that it's "not really a Broadway show" - if I'm not mistaken, and excuse me if I am, but it has original music (although jukebox musicals aren't any less Broadway in my book), and a story with a beginning, a middle, and an end. Don't get me wrong, I'm not like a diehard fan here, but I don't think it's correct to call this not a Broadway show. Something like "Pen and Teller"? Absolutely agree, not a Broadway show. But this isn't just a circus act on stage. It's as Broadway as "Hamilton" is Broadway, I think.

Absolutely. And a lot easier to sit through.

Pupscotch,

Why would you assume otherwise? You really do seem to rush to judgment. Please slow down.

I think it's funny that people keep saying "It's not a Broadway show." What does that mean?

As far as I know the only requirement to be a Broadway show is that the show has to be playing in a Broadway theatre.

Paramour is playing in the Lyric. The Lyric is a Broadway house. Thus Paramour is, de facto, a Broadway show.

Is there another requirement that must be met in order to be a Broadway show?

Now whether it deserves to be on Broadway, either because of the nature of the show or its quality, is another matter entirely.

However I can think of a lot of Broadway shows that probably didn't deserve to be on Broadway but were.

I totally agree. I can think of a number of shows that fit the latter category - some past and some present - but will refrain from naming them so that the villagers do not get the pitchforks and torches ready to attack. .

I may just go to see it for the simple reason that the Lyric is the only current Broadway house I have not yet seen a show in!
