PLAYBILL Covers of the 2016-2017 Season |
I don't know if this will be a popular opinion, but I really like the Motown cover! Obviously it would look better in colour, but it's still nice.

Me too! I personally think that these new designs fit most - but the old white bordered one worked better for shows that have very colorful playbill covers, like Lion King. At least, from what I've seen, Off-Broadway playbills still carry the old white bordered playbills - maybe this will change in the future?
While I get the Roundabout has to go black and white, the Holiday Inn playbill would look so much better in color.
The colors used on the ads are nicely balanced and well done.
What the hell is that CHICAGO playbill? Why are they stepping off a plane?

As part of Chicago's 20th Anniversary, they're revamping their ad campaign to incorporate how international the show has been. I think they even took pictures with planes and with the original cast too! There's a video on Youtube explaining it but I can't limk it since I'm on my phone. It doesn't make much sense, but oh well.

It's so random...
I thought Holiday Inn was kidding with the balloons. Like, oh, we just let an intern mess around with photoshop and some clip art for five minutes but that obviously isn't the actual design. Here's a crazy idea... why not have a holiday inn on the Playbill? I do like that it's at least not mostly dark negative space like She Loves Me. So... there's that.
I want one of those new Lion King Playbills.
It seems like a shame to have The Color Purple Playbill without any purple.
Waitress looks strange... especially the smoke from the pie and the light halo around Jessie Mueller.

Brainstorming some ideas for Chicago...
a map with push pins marking all the different productions of Chicago
something reflecting 20 years other than a tiny sticker on one of the suitcases
a jail set that somehow incorporates headshots of previous cast members (e.g. famous Roxies/Velmas)
a nightclub set celebrating 20 years of Chicago
The way the current photo is staged it doesn't express/communicate anything.
I honestly think, with the exception of The Lion King, every one looks better with the new design. And I also wish Holiday Inn would be in color!
Honestly, Chicago would be better off with just a dazzling, pretty logo. Like She Loves Me or School of Rock. The airplane is just comically meaningless.

Seriously. The Holiday Inn art is horrendous as it is, but to render it in black and white makes it laughable.

Our new campaign was 20 years, Killing It World Wide. The plane is to signify the international success of the show. The previous poster was correct in saying that there was a photo shoot with the original cast. It was our goal to incorporate them into the new campaign as they represent the timelessness of the show.
Thanks for your feedback
