I've wanted to download this music for awhile, but wanted some input on which to purchase. There are 4 different versions on iTunes: London 1983, London 1995, London 1993, and the International album with Petula Clark and David and Shaun Cassidy. Which recording best represents the show? I really hope they do a revival on Broadway or I can see it locally because this music is gorgeous! Thanks in advance for the input.

I like the 1995 London cast recording. It has Stephanie Lawrence and some of the other original Broadway leads.

For starters, I'd suggest eliminating the Petula Clark version.

And then I'd select the 1988 London Cast version with Kiki Dee. Her take on ""Tell Me It's Not True" will break your heart.

The Petula Clark recording does have the large orchestration and Willy Russell as the narrator. I wouldn't eliminate it entirely. It does have some favorable elements.
