Hamilton Scalpers

I want to apologize in advance for making ANOTHER Hamilton thread. I asked earlier about prices but didn't really take into consideration different factors. Does anyone think I can buy a ticket outside from scalpers right before (or minutes after) showtime on Wednesday, July 6th at night for under $500? O really want to see the OBC but the cancellation line has become so insane and I can't really go any other day. I would really appreciate some info on prices. I've been blowing up the Cancellation thread with questions and feel bad with the questions being out of place.

June 6th? First you'll need a time machine.

Why did you wait until the very end of Lin's run to decide you had to see it? That's on you.

I'm no expert but I think scalper prices for the wednesday matinee will be lower than the prices for wednesday evening.

Good luck!

I was trying to go to that show but I have audition at that time. Thanks for the advice though! And the reason I waited this long is BC I have been saving my money. I would've gone in January if I had the chance..

The tickets have gone up in price over time, as the show has gotten more popular. I'm just saying. It's hard for you to be asking for an affordable secondary market ticket on the last week of Lin/Leslie/Phillipa's run. Do you understand that?

It's also been playing for a year, not just since January. I wish you luck, but you have to understand that what you're asking for is pretty ridiculous.

Is there any way your parents or friends can loan you some money so you can buy a ticket from stubhub or TM resale?

Also, don't you live in staten island? If I were you, I would have gone to Richard Rodgers theater 30-40 minutes before performance starts to scope out the line and see what a scalper looks like and what he/she does and get a feel of what prices are going for nowadays.

I agree though that for $400 is probably not enough. Premium ticket face value is now $549 I think and $199 for regular orchestra.

If it's meant to be, then enter the $10 lottery and if you're meant to watch the OBC, then you'll win. If not, then so be it. The show was in the Public early 2015 and I think prices ranged from $50-$100 back then.

My personal advice, as (financially) tough as it may be to swallow, is not to get involved with anything other than Ticketmaster Resale. You never know. Anybody can end up being that one person who bought a counterfeit to a performance—and then it's on you. I suggest to always take the safe route.

I've actually never seen "scalpers" hawking tickets outside the theater at all. I've seen like, real people who genuinely needs to sell their tickets offering them to the cancellation line for relatively reasonable prices, but I haven't ever seen any scalpers outside like you do at Yankee Stadium.

Yeah I agree with broadwayconcierge that the safest route for resale tickets is Ticketmaster resale.

@cerclerouge, I've only seen 1 scalper by Richard Rodgers theater during my cancellation line waits in the past. You'll hear him with his loud voice asking regular patrons whether they have any extra tickets to sell roughly 30 mins before showtime.

isn't hawking the tickets outside the theater the kind of scalping that's still illegal in NY?

You have to be 500 feet away from the venue. That's why you'll sometimes see mention on here of if the RR staff sees reselling going on that they'll make people walk over by the Marriott to do the transaction.

An op-ed in today's WSJ encourages Governor Cuomo to veto the recent anti-bot legislation passed.  it is behind their paywall, but if you google "The Trick to Taking On Ticket-Buying Bots wsj" you should be able to get access via the linked result.

This is the op-ed:

Strangely enough was not behind a paywall for me -- do they allow some content to be seen for free?

Paywall here too when I click the link, but doing the Google trick indytallguy mentions brings it up just fine.
