Did anyone see this on Sunday? I finally got to it and the only reason why I DVR'd it, because if Sutton Foster. I thought alex Baldwin felt out of place, but it was fun. Also whenever Rosie and sutton were talking it kept on reminding me of her Millie performance of the Rosie show.

It was fun to watch.  I read that Sarah Palin might be a guest on Match Game.

I'm also happy that Pyramid is back, although I wish that the celebs were the ones giving the clues in the bonus round.

Did we really need to see Rosie in back-to-back game shows (Pyramid & Match Game)?

Watch the old Match Game on Buzzer network. Gene Rayburn was the nadir of game show hosts. His outfits were wild and he interacted with the guests and panelists with wit and panache. You see old Broadway stalwart Charles Nelson Reilly as a panelist. He gave up Broadway for a lifelong job here and did quite well for himself. This show has been around since the 60's when they taped it in NYC before they all moved to LA.

Nadir means the lowest of low points. Unless you think wit, panache, and wild outfits are a bad thing, you're using it totally in the opposite meaning here.

We all have those, anyway, I thought not bad for a first show.  The charm of the old Match Game was that they were often drunk.

The weakness was they fed them the question to tee off on the Baldwin brothers and nobody got crazy mean, that has to improve.

Both the new Match Game and Pyramid suffered from loud, annoying contestants, shrieking crowds, and B level contestants. The best: Debra Messing. The JoAnn Pflug of the 21st century. The worst: Sutton Foster. She makes Joyce Bulifant seem witty. I don't get Foster at all. Bland and clueless. The Celine Dion of Broadway.

I like that Match Game walked right up to the line (and in a few instances, tip-toed over it) regarding somewhat "adult" language and innuendo. The old Match Game(s) did that, too, but they did it in a daytime time slot, when housewives were home alone while the kids were at school.

I don't think that Sunday evening, prime time is the best choice of time slots for this.

It is fun to watch the old ones as museum pieces. These shows days have come and gone.

I dunno... I'm very happy watching the new Pyramid and To Tell the Truth. I could be happy with new versions of Concentration and Password as well. I thought Jane Lynch's show was fun, too.

There definitely was a heyday for game shows that went downhill pretty quickly when the bandwagon effect took hold. The latter shows got way too gimmicky and overly complicated.

Like you mentioned though, I enjoy watching the oldies on Buzzr. I wish their selection wasn't so limited.

They revived it a few yrs ago in TO/6. Just seemed so dated.

The problem I had with The Match Game (haven't seen the new version) is that many times the "celebrity" tried to go for a laugh instead of actually trying to match the player and helping him/her win the game.

I tried last night's episode, but found it unwatchable.

The old Hollywood Squares was the same way. They played it for laughs and the games and contestants were secondary.

they're drinking on this new edition as well.

A Chorus Line played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013.

Yeah, I noticed Sherri definitely had a drink of some sort last night.

Maybe a drink is the only way they can actually do the shows.

Didn't see last nights show yet, but they need to get drunk, that should be the format.  Speaking of old game shows, I think Chuck Barris used to snort coke live on The Gong Show.

I found Pyramid to be infinitely more entertaining than Match. Ana Gasteyer was fun on both.

Agreed.Pyramid is a better all around game than Match which is basically a one trick pony.

Could anyone here imagine a male host attempting to kiss female contestants like Richard Dawson did routinely on Family Feud back in the day?

Clarification: he did doing his first stint as host but when he returned that was verboten.

A lot of things done innocently back than are no longer deemed innocent. I am surprised they even show the old ones on retro channels without some group getting their knickers in a bunch.

I thought Richard Dawson kissing all the women was creepy and weird even back then.
