This is opening next week at the Old Globe and was produced first with the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre.  Is there anyone from Chicago that saw the original production and would care to share their thoughts on this as a musical?

I thought it was delightful and was deeply moved, especially by Sharon Rietkerk's Elinor. (I believe the cast is almost entirely the same)

That said... there's only one song I ever listen to on the cast recording. The songs are all very short... snippets really... and they do well to advance the story but they rarely build into something spectacular.

It's not a great musical but it is a great story well told and well performed.

Jesus saves. I spend.

Thank you for your quick response, KJisgroovy.  I'll be buying a ticket to see it and will comment after I see it.

I saw it. It wasn't bad, it wasn't great either. It was an enjoyable experience with an unremarkable score. There is a cast recording available. If live to say more about it but it was just over a year ago, and nothing in it really stands out for me. I probably wrote a review on it on Facebook, but it takes forever to find an old post on there.

Edit: I searched it out on Facebook, and apparently my comments weren't much distention from what I posted above. "My mom and I went last Thursday. I forgot to post a review. The set was beautiful, and the book scenes were well written. The performances were lovely, but the score was bland. Still, it was a great afternoon at the theatre."
