Shuffle Along's closing has nothing to do with its current business. It's about the nonexistent advance. It's irrelevant now, anyway.

Just reading down all those wonderful shows on Broadway [ and leaving out the obvious], there are no Stars that the general public knows--it's the show that decides tickets sold. War Paint and Dolly will bring 2 so who else is there and what are they doing?

The Humans is unexpectedly crushing it. It looks like being part of the Tony conversation, not just winning, really helped give it a boost.

Good for Bright Star. Also a respectable finish for The King and I with a full house. 

I feel like I'll be safe waiting a little longer on Waitress SRO but I'll probably go before NYMF eats up all my time in July.

God do I wish Bright Star had been doing business like that throughout its run. Such a shame. At least they ended on a high note.

Looking at the Bright Star number makes my heart bleed. I'm happy they went out on such a high and played to packed houses, but damn, how I wish things would have caught on a little faster a little sooner. The potential was there. Word of mouth just took too long, and the marketing really didn't help I don't think...

The only reason you're seeing those numbers is because of their announced closing. Not because of any word of mouth, marketing partnerships or any other hogwash.

I don't have a problem with a fan expressing pleasure that a show went out on a high note or the like, but to think that the show was coming around is delusional.

Unfortunately I have to agree. Bright Star's numbers were not the effect of the show "catching on," but merely the show closing which peaked interest.

For the longest time the potential gross was stable at $1,334,960.  

The week after the Tonys, it increased to $1,655,384.

Then this past week it increased again to $1,943,120.

To my understanding the potential gross is based on (# of seats in the theater available for sale that week) x (average ticket price set by the theater for that week) or something similar to that calculation. In the gross tables, Richard Rodgers officially has 10,568 seats available for sale each week. Yet, it always sells over 10,750 seats each week (I guess that's due to SRO?)

I'm guessing after all those Tony award wins, Richard Rodgers officially raised the prices of their premium, orchestra, mezz, rear mezz tickets, thus increasing the potential gross? I don't work in finance but that would be my guess. I'm not understanding why it increased yet again this week, after an increase last week (unless the ticket prices rose again? Doubt it.)
