Cirque du Soleil   is one of the most formidable entertainment companies today. I am looking for reviews about Kooza and how it compares to the other shows on the road. Also how well does it do In regards to the residential shows?

It's easy. Cirque is top notch entertainment. Have you seen Kooza?  If the answer is no, then see it. It's a lovely production. Even if you've seen cirque before. This is a different theme and concept and direction and design.

do alot of cirque shows sort of blend together after a while? Yes.

Stand outs: O, kurios, believe, ovo

shows that have blended together in my head but I was still wildly entertained while sitting through it:

Corte0, Kooza, amaluna

and the only cirque show I DIDNT like?

LOVE.

I remember seeing Kooza back during its initial tour and was underwhelmed.  The circus acts themselves were thrilling, but I really didn't care for the concept, music and design.  I rate it low on the list with such forgettable Cirque productions as La Nouba and Dralion. My favorites have been Quidam, Love and Corteo.  I probably would have listed O as a favorite had I not seen the superior Le Reve the night before.  O was slow and dull by comparison, but I do love the music.  With the exception of Love, I usually prefer the tent shows as they feel more immediate and interactive.  Some of the permanent productions are just staged in a space that is too large and you lose a lot of the tension generated when watching the acts.

I didn't like Kooza. I'd seen every Cirque production that'd come through San Francisco before it, and this was my least favorite. My brother-in-law, though, loved it and it was his first Cirque experience.

(This was several years ago, though, so I'm not sure how much Kooza would've changed in the meantime.)

As far as touring shows go, Kooza is pretty good. It's classic cirque, but it does have an abnormal amount of clowns and comedy for a cirque show. Love it or hate it, there is a lot of it. Some of it is clever and fun and other parts of it are kind of obnoxious. However, of the touring cirque shows I've seen, I think I probably enjoyed this one the most (I've seen Totem, OVO, Zarkana, and Kooza on tour). However, in my opinion there is no comparison between this and one of cirque's classic permanent shows. There is just so much they can do with a permanent space that they can't do in a tent or temporary theater. If you have a chance you should absolutely see Ka or O because they are completely unique. Despite this, Kooza is a fun show that lives up to the cirque du soleil name.
