So sorry if this question has been answered elsewhere!

I will be seeing two show on July 2nd, and I was wondering if (based on previous experience) they still might have any pride Playbills hanging around?

They will definitely not be distributing them freely then, but you could be in luck if you ask an usher or two. Just ask.

That early in the month, pretty decent chance...especially for shows that might not be selling out consistently.  (But it never hurts to ask!)

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Thank you!

I definitely want the traditional yellow banner, but I think it would be cool to have a Pride one as well.

I'll have to check but I may have an extra pride playbill for She Loves Me. If you can't get one let me know and I can send it to you if I do.

I'm super excited, especially that my first Broadway show will be my favorite one!

@ChiTheaterFan If they don't have anymore I may have to take you up on that offer.

Keep me posted.  I'm seeing Fully Committed next week with my husband next Thursday.  If for any reason, you don't get a Pride Copy, I'd be more than happy to send you my second copy (if it is a Pride copy).

have an amazing time!  As a native New Yorker who only made it to the theater a few times with large gaps, I decided this year to invest in live theater full throttle!  I absolutely love the places the performances take me to and the emotion they all evoke.  I never thought I could cry so much!  LOL!

Have an amazing time!

That depends on whether or not Playbill makes the switch to July this week or next week. Assuming they do it this week (since July 1st is Friday), there's no guaranty that there will be any left. Playbill will take back unused Playbills from the previous month, so supply will depend on whether or not each theater's porter prepares the unused Playbills for pick-up. Also, there is no requirement for the ushers to use the "new" month's Playbills (unless there is a cast change), so they will distribute whatever bundle of books they grab. Since these are special Playbills, it is likely that most of the leftover Playbills will be returned, but there are always a few stacks that get left behind for one reason or another.

My experiences over the years have been different than Fosse76's.

The new Playbills are always there for the first of the month, and they must start being used then. If you think about it it only makes sense.

The advertisers are playing to have their ads run in Playbill for the whole month of July. You are depriving them of what they paid for by waiting until the following week to start using the new books regardless of whether or not there is a cast change.

I know we get in big trouble if we are caught using the wrong books.

Interesting, because I've been to multiple shows where it could be a few days into the month and they are still using last month's playbill, or even using the next month's two days early or so.

Oh I believe it. That happens to me a lot when I go see shows.

I think it depends when the July Playbills are delivered.

My friend watched Hamilton on May 31st and they distributed June Pride playbills for that performance (Tuesday eve).

And I saw Blackbird on June 4th and it still had the traditional yellow banner. So it just depends.

I work for the Shubert Organization, and there has never been a requirement for the ushers to use the current month's Playbills. The exceptions were either a cast change or production content change. There MAY be some house managers who demand that the ushers use the current month's Playbills, but it's not an actual policy.

I'm seeing Hamilton on July 1st, and I'm hoping they still have the Pride Playbills!

Call Mary and ask her what Playbills you are to use on the first of the month.

I've been working for the company for over 20 years, and that's always been the rule.

How strictly it's adhered to, for a variety of reasons, may be a different story.

I work for The Nederlanders and they tend to be pretty on top of what playbills to use. There are a couple of shows there that have new ensemble members coming in and out (great example of this is Wicked.) If the ensemble member comes in and starts before the next issues are out, they aren't in them and have to be added as an insert. However, once the new playbills come in and said ensemble member is in them, they tend to have use use the new ones since whoever prints out the inserts now has one less thing to worry about.

So after a long long rough day, I passed by Studio54 and simply asked if I may have a Pride playbill. The guy asked me if I had seen the show before, and I said I saw it a few months ago and showed him a pic of me outside with a SHE LOVES ME yellow playbill. He then gave me this...

So just in case they don't have the pride playbills anymore, you'll have peace of mind that you'll get this one. :) Enjoy your trip to nyc! BTW, right now there are huge BroadwayHD trucks outside Studio54. I think they're preparing for the June 30th livestream.

Ah! That is too too kind of you :)

I wouldn't have expected so much preparation would be needed, I wonder if they'll do test or something over the next few days?
