Hamilton Cast Slip August 28th, 2015

Hey guys,

Random question- I just found my Playbill from the evening performance of Hamilton on August 28th. The slip that lists who performed that night seems to have fallen out. I know that all the original principles were on that night but was curious about the ensemble. Is there some sort of database to check who was performing? Or perhaps one of you will amaze me and have a slip from that night. Sorry for the strange question, would love any help. Thanks!

I really wish I could give you that info. It's so weird... I went June 12 with my whole family (4 people for you ticket-counting goodie goodies) and none of us got slips. I even got 2 extra Playbills. Javier was Hamilton that day. I feel bad for anyone who was expecting Lin and didn't have any idea. Not that Javilton wasn't phenomenal, but the experience of seeing Lin is something else.

I went on August 27 and didn't have a slip in my Playbill at all.

There would be no reason for a slip if there were no understudies on. The Playbill would be correct. Javi is not an understudy.

That's not true. I also saw the show in October and there was a slip (no understudies). Hamilton typically includes a slip in the Playbill.

They may but they do not need to unless someone is going on. If they need to, then they would because they are obliged to. If there is no slip, what I am suggesting is one might reasonably presume there were no understudies on.

Ive been twice when there were no slips because the full cast (including ensemble) was as listed in the playbill. If even one of the ensemble is out and covered by a swing they usually do full slips. So there may not be an understudy for one of the leads on, but if there's a slip, in my experience it has meant that someone is out and being covered by a swing.

When I was there on Wednesday, no slip or sheet was present. But it seemed like everyone in the cast was there that should have been (all main characters and seemingly every original ensemble member except Betsy Struxness and Emmy Raver-Lampman). So perhaps the slips are only present when someone is missing.

I've seen it three times, and the only time I've had a cast insert slip was in March when Alysha was on for Eliza.

I hope I wasn't misleading in my post.

They only give out cast slips when an understudy is on. The point is, however, when an understudy IS on they give out the full cast slips instead of individual inserts. I mean, I can't speak to Hamilton or, really, to On Your Feet! other than the times I personally saw them, but I can speak to Les Miz as I have worked there many, many, many times.

The fact that the OP said there was a cast slip for the performance they attended indicates that there was an understudy other than Javier on. I'm thinking they want a record of who that was.

As far as swings go you only have to insert when someone goes on for a part that is identified in the Playbill (usually means they have a speaking part of some sort). If a swing goes on for someone who is genuinely an ensemble member then no insert is done (although it will be posted on the understudy board).

I can only concur about On Your Feet. Whenever anyone is out, you get a full cast list in your program as an insert. But if no one is out, you get no insert.
 

I can't speak about any others...no info.

I saw Hamilton in March and didnt get an insert as everyone was in and i saw it again last weekend and also didnt get an insert yet some other people did. I picked one off the floor when i was leaving and noticed that Alysha was in as Peggy and was surprised that neither of our playbills had inserts.
