Will there be a Bright star tour

Are there any chances this goes out on the road in order to recoup their investment? I was thinking the other day that Alison Luff would be brilliant as Alice of they can't get Carmen to tour.

I think the more likely fate for this show would be ether a nonunion tour or regional productions.

Really nonunion? I know we are just speculating, but with Steve martins name and the type of music this show would sell extremely well in middle America.

^ I think that just means that touring venues can request it. If it garners enough requests, then a tour might be put into motion. However, someone correct me if I'm incorrect.

I think if BRIDGES could get  tour this surely can. I think their trajectories were very similar, though I would hope this show's tour if it happens would be a little more successful.

This is true. Bridges is a recognizable property with two Tony wins but is still struggling. I saw the tour recently and the house was at least half-empty on a Friday night. Granted it was at the quite large TPAC in Nashville (2400 seats), but it was still disheartening for me as a theatergoer.  Would Martin and Brickell's names on an original/non-Tony winning show even have as much appeal as Bridges?

I think a short, 6 month's non-union tour could work in smaller cities/venues.

why would middle america see it on tour when they wouldn't see it on Broadway? the streets are teeming with middle america.

That is the only question. Though I have come to discover the name recognition for BRIDGES just really wasn't that high, or at least not high enough to garner interest in a musical version.

For BRIGHT STAR I just don't think many people are aware of Martin's music career so that may mean they would be less excited to see a musical from him.

I have said it before but I do wish there could be some sort of secondary Tour circuit with smaller houses so shows like this or FUN HOME didn't have to fill 3000 seats. But I'm sure that isn't financially feasible.

I wouldn't think a tour would be financially smart, but I think this show will be done by every regional theatre in the next two years.

Carmen Cusack has said that she would do a tour if one were to happen!

I feel like I could easily see at least two companies here in Pittsburgh jumping on the opportunity to put it on as soon as it's available for licensing. And I would gladly see it many times.

For what it's worth, someone asked about this at the stage door Wednesday night and Stephen Lee Anderson said the show will definitely be touring.

I got a survey yesterday about what shows I would want to see brought to Kansas City and Bright Star was one on the list. Did Cusack really say she'd tour with it? Seems like she'd be able to land something in NYC. I mean I get she loves the show.

Also I think the show would do really well in the midwest. My parents really want to see it, but they aren't going to NYC to see a show. They go to a ton of theater here in town though.

Does anyone know how it sold at the Kennedy Center?  That seems at least a fair barometer for its road prognosis.  It would head out with no notable success in NYC (short run, no Tonys) and its profile would not have changed much since pre-B'way.  How can you advertise "direct from 4 1/2 months on B'way!"  And use Steve Martin's name when he isn't appearing.  I remember many wisely forecast "Side Show's" fate, based on the show's failure to sell out in DC.  They are not comparable shows, but perhaps there's at least a model there.

Pretty easily, actually. You just remove the "4 1/2 months on" part: DIRECT FROM B'WAY!

Any they might actually have the Hamilton year going for them. Everybody who follows Broadway just a little knows that they were always gonna win everything, so a Tony nomination in the year of Hamilton might weigh more than in any other year. They can definitely advertise their Tony noms, and their OCC and Drama Desk wins. And cite the reviews and raves about Carmen.

And actually, 4.5 months isn't that bad, especially if you look at some of the other shows that opened in the spring...

I desperately wanted to see this show, but it ended up shutting down before my visit in August. I would only speak for myself, but I wouldn't waste a dime on a badly scaled down version. sorry. The three productions I saw this year were terrible.
