The ending was a bit weird. Does the baby have bugs? Does the mom and did the mom give the baby bugs? I thought that video part was cool, but other than that it was pretty boring. I too think the trio of laurel, Rochelle and Gustav is what makes the show. I wonder if the actor playing Gustav couldn't commit to doing the past 2(?) episodes
Gustav and Rochelle are fine, but they are the side dish. It is all about Laurel and Gareth. They are main course. I love that despite their differences they are there for each other. The way Laurel was all protecting on Gareth with that crazy video maker was heartwarming. They have such amazing chemistry. It is beyond the usual will they or wont they, because they have and we want them to again! To me the other stuff is background.
It's real

Wow-- great finale. But are we to understand that that's it for the series? Has anyone read if the show has been officially renewed or officially cancelled? (I surmise from the way they conclusively wrapped up every single plot thread of the current series that they won't be back for any more, but I'd love to know it definitively.)
Bueller?
Anyone?
Actually, the producers supposedly have a four-year, four-location plan. I can't find the article right now, but the idea is that each season would show the effects of invasion in a different locale. Season 1 was DC, I don't know what 3 and 4 would have been (I think Hollywood was one), but Season 2 is supposed to be Wall Street... hence that thread of Luke moving on from politics and onto Wall Street. No news yet on renewal either way- since it's a summer show, the networks tend to be more lazy about releasing info. But I agree it was a great finale- I really ended up loving this show!
Also, did anyone else notice the Gareth/Laurel "Love you" phone call was almost word-for-word lifted from a Will/Alicia scene in The Good Wife Season 3?

I agree that it was a very good episode. To my mind, one of the most satisfying of the series, but I still have some questions like - what was the deal with the baby?
After the baby was born, it seemed like there was some kind of sinister connection to the bugs. I got a kind of "Rosemary's Baby" vibe... Was that plot point only included so that there would be a back-up plan to blackmail Luke?
Also, if shame about Lana was the factor that made the bugs leave Red's brain, why didn't they leave when he was in tears during his 'Rachel Maddow' TV interview?
Also -- Gustav's been with the NSA this whole time???! ...in a top-ranking position???! I'm with Rochelle on this one. Except that I won't get the pleasure of dating that cutie-pie as a means of compensation for that frustrating plot point (like she will).
This show was a guilty pleasure, but there were way too many red-herrings (a lazy substitute for good writing, IMO). It was a guilty pleasure because of lines like Gustav's, "I know how to be Black".
The finale made me very happy. I have a feeling it won't be brought back for another season so if I'm right this was a perfect final episode, the kind that most shows don't get to do or choose not to do when their fate is up in the air.

I thought that the baby was infected (how - who knows?) but the mom wasn't because she acted totally normal UNTIL after the baby was born. If you recall, she was emotional over Luke's cheating, which I feel wouldn't have happened if she were already infected at that point. At which point the mom obviously got infected as well and started to act weird. Who knows how but whatever it was, it was hella creepy. I would question, however, where the hell was Luke the whole time that his wife didn't get a chance to infect him? He seemed to have stopped cheating, but where was he sleeping at night? Major plot hole, considering he's the one ruining Ella and Red's plans. The wife just kinda disappeared; with his wife being standoffish, something should've have clicked when Luke learned the whole bug thing was real and found out about his dad being infected.
With the Red interview, I had assumed that was pre-infection, in fact, an interview that happened many years ago. Considering Gareth has never seen express shame, it probably predates him being chief-of-staff. Gareth had to dig deep into Red's history to find out what made him tic emotionally.
I really loved this show, minus some of those filler episodes. There was some great, humorous writing and the main characters were so well written. My only wish (other than a similarly awesome 2nd season), is an awesome number performed by all those awesome people with the awesome voices who were on the show. ![]()

"This is sad. what a great original show.
Maybe some of the character or actors will make appearances on the good wife spinoff.
