Yes it was so much fun...and the shade was real.

Bondi responded by noting that her website now has an image of rainbow-colored hands clasped together.

"So you just put that up now?" Cooper said.

What he really wanted to say was, "Bitch, please!"

LOL!

For something positive, I urge everyone reading this thread to go on the main board and read the piece I posted by Kevin Fallon of the Daily Beast, entitled "The Tony Awards And The Audacity Of Joy On A Day Of Hate."

She tried to talk him out of it???????????? This kind of attitude by anyone is the reason a moron like Trump gets traction with voters. And " the authorities are deciding WHETHER OR NOT TO FILE CHARGES AGAINST HER" Is that some kind of sick joke? Every one is insane.

They're just milking her for as much information as they can get out of her before arresting her. My guess is that they want her to say something that will implicate the father, who probably was the one who radicalized his son.

Then they can get two convictions--or more, if any friends or relatives were involved.

You are probably correct.

I am tired of hearing that Islam is the religion of peace. All I see is intolerance. Can you speak out against it? Can you leave it? Do you have freedom of choice? Do women have equal rights? Are gays even tolerated? Is anyone else, for that matter, considered an equal?

Refugees for whom we feel sorry and are facing starvation and death in their home countries, once here, do they then continue to teach the same intolerance and hatred which becomes Orlando?

Mine has just become a very cynical view and I hate that I feel this way.

"

anyone who wishes to be honest has to admit 90% of homo/transphobia in the world today comes from monotheism.  this is easily demonstrated.

before monotheism, human beings used to celebrate our sexuality.  this is easiest demonstrated with easter.  consider the traditional symbols of easter: the rabbit, and the egg.  easter is self-evidently about sex.  exuberant sex.  just like the maypole is phallus worship.  our ancestors were fantastically ignorant about human biology.  but they understood that sex was necessary for life to continue.  they celebrated it in the spring, which they associated with life and renewal.  all across the world now, there is evidence of homosexuality in native america, africa, and asia, and in all of the progenitors to mammals, including lowly cephalopods and athropods.  then monotheism came along and decided human sexuality is something we aught be ashamed of.

one of the chief concerns of the desert tribes that cooked up judaism was increasing their numbers.  they were thus hostile to all forms of sex not involved in procreation.  recall that onan was struck dead for spending his seed outside a woman.  couple this with a few more historical accidents. the people who cooked up christianity actually debated throwing out all the books of the old testament.  but they were determined to make the prophecies come "true."  the hebrew word, "alma," which only means "young woman," was translated to mean "virgin."  and they honestly believed the world was going to come to an end, and that the body was low and filthy, and the spirit pure.  islam merely plagiarized the worst aspects of prudery and hellfire from christianity.  many liberals concern themselves with multiculturalism.  take note that as monotheism spread, it gave no regard to what native americans, africans, and asians thought about homosexuality.  it insists--literally at gunpoint in modern times--that all those other cultures obey these desert myths, regardless of what their own cultures believed.  now, instead of african queens taking warrior brides, we have 'correction rape," and african women having toilet brushes jammed up their vaginas until they die.

orlando is the terrible price civilization must pay so we can keep this ridiculous toy.  i wonder what it will take before people will have enough?

no, we can never make religion go away.  but can everyone please have a grown up conversation that what i just outlined is where it all comes from, and how the horrible homophobia which sprung is a terrible accident of history?  if the boy's father had just let him be gay, and tell him it's alright, maybe he wouldn't have grown into a self-loathing man who felt compelled to do what he did.

Exactly. Islam (along with other religions, such as Christianity and social attitudes such as hypermasculinity) ALL have a role in the shooting (gun control, too).

Now, don't get me wrong. I don't believe that one reformed bishop's surprisingly progressive views absolve the Catholic Church of its centuries of human rights abuses that have led to the death, misery, illness, abuse and neglect of millions of people. That said, I am left stunned by this Florida bishop's candor. I imagine he probably outraged a lot of devout Catholics with these comments:

Florida Catholic bishop: ‘It is religion, including our own,’ that targets LGBT people
Washington Post OpEd
?

"...Our founding parents had no knowledge of assault rifles, which are intended to be weapons of mass destruction. In crafting the Second Amendment to the Constitution, which I affirm, they thought only of the most awkward of pistols and heavy shotguns. I suspect they are turning in their graves if they can but glimpse what their words now protect. It is long past time to ban the sale of all assault weapons, whose use should be available only to the armed forces. If one is truly pro-life, then embrace this issue also and work for the elimination of sales to those who would turn the weapons on innocents.

Second, sadly it is religion, including our own, that targets, mostly verbally, and often breeds contempt for gays, lesbians and transgender people. Attacks today on LGBT men and women often plant the seed of contempt, then hatred, which can ultimately lead to violence..."

-From St. Petersburg, Florida Bishop Robert Lynch's OpEd in the Washington Post (Full OpEd here)

Maybe someday the religious left will get the attention the religious right does.  Frankly, it's a better story.  There are countless nuns and priests working for social justice, often supporting causes that fly in the face of church doctrine.

I personally wouldn't be surprised if the father was somehow involved. His story keeps on changing from he's sorry this happened, to he wishes his son was never born, to the club should have had more security (that's a really doozie!).

On another note, Rachel Maddow has become completely unwatchable.  She repeats herself so many times within just a minute, and her "sing-songy" approach is annoying.

I believe the father will turn out to be the driving force behind this. He knew his son was gay and taunted him and shamed him. The son did this to prove to his father that he was a man.

If, as Oscar Hammerstein wrote, you have to be taught to hate, the father was the teacher.

I hope he is prosecuted and convicted as an accomplice.

While that family dynamic is possible, even probable, that would be a difficult case to prosecute.  I think the case against the wife appears more likely.  Maybe the ex-wife will be able to shine more light on the relationship between the father and son.

Perhaps the victims' family can pursue a civil case against the father if that turns out to be true.  Either way, he has a history spewing racist and homophobic garbage online himself, not to mention serious delusions of grandeur.

I don't think this got posted.  Sorry if I missed it.  This lovely man, a vet and a bouncer at Pulse, reportedly saved as many as 70 people:

Orlando shooter's wife could be charged soon

Fox News said that prosecutors are seeking to charge Salman as an accessory to 49 counts of murder and 53 counts of attempted murder, failing to notify law enforcement about the coming attack and lying to federal agents.

If he was a Radicalized Muslim, how did he justify drinking alcohol in a club? Hell, there are cab drivers in NYC who will not pick you up if they see you are carrying a bag from a wine store. There was a lot more going on in that guy's mind then Isis.

This is weird: He called in to a local TV news station.
