Who would you like to see?

If SpongeBob doesn't move forward or gets put off for a year I'd love to see Emmy Raver Lampman be Angelica. I've also been saying Nic Rouleau should be king George.

Personally , I'd love to see Christopher Sieber as King George and Anika Noni Rose as Angelica, though I know it won't happen.

It would be cool for Phillipa to reprise her role in Chicago, since she's from the Chicago suburbs. I'm sure it's unlikely since she's now doing that Disney movie, and who knows what offers she has on the table after her Tony nomination.

Christopher Sieber would be an excellent King George.

I just don't get the appeal of Christopher Sieber. I thought he was the worst part of Spamalot, and yet he got a Tony nomination for it. And I did not like his Miss Trunchbull at all - he played it campy as a man in drag, not as a woman. Besides, I like how they are going with more youthful King Georges - it makes it funnier I think.

Anyway, I think the tours/regional sitdowns of Hamilton, as the OBC did, will be bringing fresh faces and talent to the stage more than established Broadway actors.

I loved Sieber both in Spamalot (saw the original tryout with the cow song and witch song) and Matilda.  In fact, I remember how surprised I was at the time to be underwhelmed by Curry and Pierce in Spamalot.  I found them to be rather bland.

I read some rumors on here that Lin would be starting the show in Chicago awhile back. That's now the only thing we know is not happening.

I'd love to see Bryce Pinkham as King George. I think he'd be really entertaining.

Sieber would also be a great choice, as mentioned above. Maybe some of the current Broadway understudies could go out there to start off their first regional/tour strong?

Did Anika not continue with the show because of another project? Would love to see her in it.

She's actually the first one I thought of as well. I've heard nothing but great things so that would be amazing.

I would LOVE Karen Olivo to be part of this. Just the thought of that makes me giddy.

Is Carleigh Bettiol not white? It's one thing to understudy, but another to be cast in the role, and the current stipulations for Broadway require (not suggest) a person of color, which Lin is firmly in favor of. I don't think there is a particular dearth of non-white actors in a city like Chicago.

There is no way that Anika would lbe a replacement for anyone in a major Broadway show.

I think you meant to say Karen Olivo as Angelica.

I've read that she is latina, although I'm not 100% sure.

I'd rather have Karen play Eliza than Angelica.

This says she's Caucasian, though who knows where that info is from. She looks white, though, and to quote Katori Hall (in an open letter objecting to a white person playing MLK in a play she had writen), the point is "visually articulating a certain skin experience"; i.e., that it's immediately obvious that the main characters are played by people of color, without any research or prior knowledge. The casting of non-white people in Hamilton is essential, not incidental. So while white actors are in the ensemble (playing minor roles like Seabury and occasionally going on as understudies), Hamilton deliberately creates opportunities for non-white actors to be actively sought, instead of the usual fray, wherein the roles available to them are roles in which they simply don't happen to be excluded.

I think the idea that she is latina has come from her tagging some of her instagram posts with #latina. I don't know if that means anything.

While I appreciate what you're saying, I've seen people say they didn't realize Phillipa was Asian and she herself has said she had never been talked about as an actor of color before Hamilton. I think it's important that we don't erase the ethnicities of 'white-passing' actors. As long as Hamilton has a wide range of ethnicities then I don't think it matters too much if certain actors aren't white but look white to some people.

All of this is irrelevant if Carleigh is actually white though in which case I agree that she shouldn't be cast in a principal part.

For a show that is as widely successful and challenging as this is? Any actor in their right mind would take the part if offered. It's insane publicity, money, and I'm sure a very satisfying part (pun only slightly intended). We have seen some phenomenal replacements of late - I think Broadway is finally going back to the 60s when shows like Hello Dolly saw a stream of popular leading ladies lining up to play the part.

I'm planning to see this production and I have my dates sorted (in December). Should I still be worried that they'd be gone if I log in fifteen minutes prior to 10am Chicago time and keep on refreshing? I am planning on getting 1-2 tickets for three dates in Chicago.
