"Happy Father's Day, Mom"#1

Has anyone seen this Angel Soft commercial? It's ignited a firestorm on social media with people saying that it's demeaning and insulting to fathers because it's attempting to undermine their 'day'. Thoughts?

It probably is and if the situation were reversed there would be more of an uproar. In many places, men are being marginalized and I have come to expect something like this. I have long ago gave up caring and just let it go.

Well that was just one of, if not the dumbest and most disrespectful advertising ploys I've seen in a long time. Mother's Day was just barely a month ago. Did all these children forget to honor their fantastic Moms last month? Do strong women have to be measured as if they were a man, too (like being a fantastic Mom wasn't enough)?

I think the worst though, is that insulting tie-in: "Some days she had to be softer. Some days she had to be stronger." ...just like your toilet paper. Holy cr@p! (see what I did there?)

The only redeeming factor about this commercial is the red-headed man in the purple cardigan. That man is H-O-TTTTTT!!!!!! (I wanna hold him when he cries.)

For an ad clearly trying to be progressive, it's frustrating to see so much stock put into gender stereotypes. Implying that these single mothers had to learn to be "tough" to be "father figures" is insulting. Why can't that be an innate quality of any woman? I believe single parents deserve to be shown appreciation, but not within in a context that marginalizes who they are and what they've done for their children.

I don't know. I understand they have good intentions, but really? They should have seen the backlash coming from a mile away.
