Alan Young, most famous for the role of Wilbur Post in the 1960's sitcom Mr Ed, has died. He was also in movies such as The Time Machine. No reason was given and just heard it on CBS TV News. He was 96 .

It's a shame that Allan "Rocky" Lane was never able to capitalize on being the voice of Mr. Ed. At first he was embarrassed to admit it. But when the show became a hit and he wanted recognition, producers deliberately kept him out of it. I think he could have had a good career post-Ed à la the actors in The Simpsons.

Yes, his voice is iconic! He even had a talking Mr Ed hand puppet which he voiced. I hope he got some good money for that. However I don't think Voice actors were compensated as well as they are today.
