I'm a current High School Sophomore going on Junior Year. I had a rough year. I was feeling a lot of stress and anxiety with some lingering depression. I just didn't have much heart for my core subjects, though I really tried. Before now I had a 3.5 and I'm trying to bring my grades up before school is out so I can get at least another 3.t, but it will be hard. My dream school is UMich to get a BFA in musical theatre. I know UMich is selective but if  my performing is good enough can I get in with a 3.5 or sightly lower?

Others schools I'm looking at include Carnegie Mellon (long shot) and Boston conservatory, but both are way more than I could afford. My family has to send three kids to college one right after the other and I'm the youngest. I live in state so I get in-state tuition for UMich, but my dad doesn't want to spend more than 5,000 dollars a year, though he said that if I get enough scholarships he might make it 10,000.

OH wow I just read your message.   My name is Arbender Robinson and I am a performer on Broadway.   Crazy huh?  I did not go to Michigan but i do have a bit of advice for you.   Just focus and work as hard as you can and never tell anyone that "I am just not interested in my core classes"   we know that may be true but we don't want anyone to think you are lazy right?

Also note that getting into schools, getting scholarships.... Its more than just grades.   Yes Grades are a big part of it, but there are many other factors that come into play here as well.  Talent, how you fit into the program with current students, male to female ratio and more.

Also saying that schools may be a long shot....  ya never know.   I thought Broadway was a long shot and look I have now done 10 shows on Broadway.   so for now just focus on school and grades and such and when the time comes and school start offering you things...you will know what to do.

I dunno, I work in n Broadway so I guess I need to post here too. Right?
