I'm planning to try and do standing room for Book of Mormon on my trip to New York this summer, but I'm not quite sure exactly how it works. After the lottery, it says that "tickets are available." Does this mean everyone rushes up to the box office directly after the lottery is chosen? Or is it similar to rushing, where you stand for a couple hours and it's first come first serve? Any help would be much appreciated!!

It really depends on the weather, but the line usually begins two or so hours before lotto even starts -- though occasionally the first people who pop into the line after losing lotto will be the final handful who get tickets. And even more occasionally, there will still be 3 or 4 standing room seats available even an hour before curtain because not enough people got in line even for that.

The standing room tickets are sold immediately following final sale of the lottery tickets.

Has anyone does this recently? I'm thinking about trying for SRO soon, and I am wondering how early people have had to get there lately.

I walked by today around 4:45 and there were only about 7 or 8 people in line.

I went and did the lottery 2 and a half hours before the show then got in line for standing room (there were maybe 5 people in front of me). I lost the lottery, but got standing room. It's a great view for a great price. The last time I had seen the show was almost five years ago with the original cast, so I was long overdue for a return visit. The show has held up incredibly well.
