You really could have posted this in the Tony Snub thread. Really.

except it's about the misuse of the word "snubbed," not about the Tony Awards.

Just what we needed. A new thread for grammar. Something this site has never discussed before ad nauseum

"Just what we needed. A new thread for grammar."

I think it's vocabulary, not grammar.

do we need a new thread about the difference between "vocabulary" and "grammar?"  happy to start one...

Despite the "correct" definition, performances that were expected (or even ones that had a viable chance) to get a nomination and didn't have been referred to as snubbed for as long as I remember. It's may be a technical misuse of the word but it's an accepted and widely used term.

Is Allegiance subbed, or "ignored in a deliberate and insulting way"? Who knows? But I feel really bad for Allegiance since even Dames at Sea manages to get one nod.

Even without the big one this year, there were to many good shows that could have been nominated over Allegiance. We saw it. Yes it was good and professional but not worthy of a Best Musical nod. You feel differently which is your right. Many things we liked were not nominated. That's show biz as they say.
