Not even best score? Sad.

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

The slot that went to BRIGHT STAR I thought for (pretty) sure would to AMERICAN PSYCHO.   Huh.  Well, at least it didn't go to TUCK EVERLASTING.

oh, good lord. let me see how big I can roll my eyes.  to be "SNUBBED" suggests that it even deserved it in the first place.  is there any indication of that based on the box office and critics' reviews?  no.

if you are "outraged" over an award nomination, there is something wrong with you.

I liked AP much more than Bright Star and School of Rock, but I can definitely understand why the Tony voters wouldn't like it. It truly is a very bizarre show, and I can understand how many might not like it.

Anyone who uses the word "snubbed" in conjunction with any entertainment award really ought to just start their own award ceremony.

The grosses for American Psycho have been good the past few weeks, right?!And besides reviews, I feel as though Word of mouth has been pretty good (at least what I'm hearing), do you guys think this will hurt it, or could this keep going strong despite the lack of nominations?

Truly the only thing that surprised me about the lack of nominations for American Psycho is no Ben Walker nomination.

"The grosses for American Psycho have been good the past few weeks, right?!"

Wrong. Last week was their absolute best - at only 57% of gross potential (or a measly $597k). These are not the numbers of a hit.

"Tend to think that closing notice may get posted in the near future."

And why would you think that? What educated guess made you come to that conclucsion? The show has been playing at around 90% each week. Awards don't make shows stay open, money does.

Uh.... news flash: they have been playing to 57% of their gross potential.  people filling the seats don't keep shows open. people paying money to fill those seats keeps the show open.

You're right, awards don't make a show stay open, money does. The thing is though, the awards influence the money. People listen to the critics and the awards. We've all seen it happen. We've all seen the closing notices that get posted within days after the Tony Award nominations/ceremony.

Same with reviews. I used to work for an off-broadway theatre. During previews, the house would be half full. Then the New York Times review would come out. If the review was good, the theatre would go from being half full to being sold out with a waiting list for cancellations practically overnight.

What a joke, this show is far more impressive, creative, exciting than so many shows. They should have forgot Broadway and just taken it in to the West End.
