I am seeing Wicked this summer, and am having trouble deciding on seats. Should I buy front mezz seats for $169, or middle mezz for $129? The middle mezz is only 2 rows and I was wondering if there is a bar or railing in front of the front row of the middle mezz. I thought I saw one in a photo of the theater. Also, is this too far back? I want to be able to see everything.

Last time I saw it, I was Row N, Center Orch, and could not have had a better seat... I think Front Mezz wouldn't be too bad either. But it it a big theater, with a massive stage and a lot going on at most times throughout the show.

The mezzanine at the Gershwin is further back than others. In fact, the view from the front mezzanine is comparable to the rear mezzanine in many other theatres. It's a good view, but a little far back for my taste. If you're going to spring for front mezzanine, I would go ahead and sit down in the orchestra, as they're the same price I believe.

If you can by any means sit anywhere in the orchestra versus the mezzanine, do it. The Gershwin is not the best house to sit in the mezz for.

I agree. The Gershwin is a comfortable but roomy theatre. We sat in the orchestra, in the front of the second section, and that was pretty good. The mezzanine section is set pretty far back, which means no overhang issues for people in the orchestra section (perhaps in the back). But I don't think I would want to be in the mezzanine, and certainly not far back.

I agree with the others. If you can afford front mezz, then go orchestra! I sat front mezz once at the Gershwin and I felt way too far back (and I usually prefer mezz). Plus, I find Wicked plays best to Orchestra/Stalls anyway. You can get left and right aisle orchestra seats for $129 +. They are great seats!

Last time I saw Wicked I sat in the first row of the front mezz. The seats were good, don't get me wrong, but  I found the overhang below the railing directly in front of us a tad distracting...not to mention it's pretty scary getting to and from your seat, especially when you have to walk sideways and try not to fall overboard.... I'd go with orchestra.

I highly recommend side orchestra, row Q.  You have a walkway in front of you, so you have great sight lines and plenty of legroom.  It may be a little far back for some shows, but not for Wicked.

If you saw the show before get partial view seats. They are cheaper and the further back you are(row g-k) the less you miss.

Like others said the Gershwin is a big theater and being up in the mezzanine you are far away even near the front.

Are you sure on the pricing?  I do see that front mezz is $169 for a Saturday night in summer (less expensive on weeknights!) but Mid-mezz on the date I checked is $109.

Make sure you're buying from ticketmaster.com or you might be paying extra fees for no reason.
