Clinton vs. Trump: The Path to Victory#1975

I'm pret-t-ty sure writing op-eds is totally foreign to Trump, (as reading them probably is), however his ego is displayed in other ways.

1) His love of fast food allowed him to enjoy hamburgers with Grimace from McDonald's.

http://fortune.com/2015/08/13/donald-trump-mcdonalds-ad/

2) And of course, dinner with the Mrs. at Pizza Hut

https://video.search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?fr=yhs-iry-fullyhosted_011&hsimp=yhs-fullyhosted_011&hspart=iry&p=donald+trumps%27+pizza+hut+commercial#id=2&vid=7ad491d177ee8a3fce5fef5cfd8dd860&action=click

3) But then you have to pay for dinner, even if you have to "Trumpster" dive to find your Visa card

https://video.search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?fr=yhs-iry-fullyhosted_011&hsimp=yhs-fullyhosted_011&hspart=iry&p=donald+trumps%27+visa+commercial#id=2&vid=8cdff18e1765aed26ec225dac3caffbe&action=click

4) Oh what the heck, he'a a huckster back then and still now...selling mattresses with sleepy sheep, hawking Toshiba PCs, and... he really loves fast food.

Good poll numbers continue to come in for Clinton, her chances now up to just over 80% in the 538 forecast.  With the economy continuing to be steady if not exceptional, Obama's approval numbers holding up, and Clinton's advantage in money and organization, another clear win for HRC in Sunday's debate would be a crushing blow to Trump.

“I did try and **** her. She was married. And I moved on her very heavily. In fact, I took her out furniture shopping. She wanted to get some furniture. I said, ‘I’ll show you where they have some nice furniture.’ I moved on her like a bitch, but I couldn’t get there. And she was married. Then all of a sudden I see her, she’s now got the big phony tits and everything. She’s totally changed her look. Whoa! Whoa! I’ve got to use some Tic Tacs, just in case I start kissing her. You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful-- I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the ****. You can do anything.”

I think what's terrifying is that there are plenty of American males out there who do believe this attitude is their God-given right.

And being acted upon.

I frequently have to remind myself that the Women's National Anti-Suffrage League did exist, after all, so women voting for the likes of Trump isn't entirely out of bounds even if completely irrational by healthy modern standards.

Pundits are now tripping over each other guessing about whether or not Trump is going to drop out.  My prediction: Pence will drop from the VP slot.

I'm hoping that GOP evangelical voters and principled Republicans opt to sit this one out.  Right-wing establishment politicos need to do penance for giving Trump a free pass while he sought the party nomination.  Their blood-lust for repealing the Affordable Care Act and obstructionist tendencies in Congress created a leadership vacuum that has been filled by a cult of personality of the worst order.

Nonetheless, Trump's claim that Bill Clinton said much worse things to him on the golf course is not easily dismissed.  Men of means and mega-influence have routinely operated with impunity in their dealings with the distaff side and the otherwise less privileged.  Even my very apolitical mom suggested that Hillary innately knows Trump because she's married to a more polished version of him...her assessment, not mine. Fortunately, the fact that today a male contender's treatment of women is  a litmus test to evaluate presidential suitability could be a watershed moment for human rights worldwide.

"... Bill Clinton said much worse things to him on the golf course is not easily dismissed."

Just to be clear, Bill Clinton is not on the ticket this year.  Given Trump's pathetic, defiant 'apology', there is no way he doesn't go there on Sunday night.  Clinton has had plenty of time to prepare for this line, and I hope she's ready.  Here would be my response:

Despite everything my opponent has said and done, I still find it shocking that in 2016 a candidate can blame a woman for her husband's infidelities over twenty years ago.  That said, my marriage was able to survive my husband's indiscretions.  Now, not all marriages can or should get past such incidences.  Clearly, Mr. Trump's first two marriage were not.

I'd prefer she start with the first line of your first paragraph ("Just to be clear, Bill Clinton is not on the ballot this year."Clinton vs. Trump: The Path to Victory  That draws a clear distinction between Trump's actions and whatever may or may not have happened with Bill.  Also, I wouldn't use your last line.  With only a month to the election and Hillary ahead in the polls, i think it's time for her to stick to the high road.  Let's leave the personal attack to her surrogates.  If she sticks to policy in the debates, she may not give the press as many sound bites for the next day's news cycle, but she won't lose any support either.  It's time to coast into the White House by being the adult in the room.

That last line is also very "canned." As Hillary already has enough trouble seeming grounded and relatable, falling back on a one-line zinger would probably not sit well or feel right... especially in a town hall format. I agree with Rumpelstilskin. Just stick to policy and facts. Don't even give Trump the time of day. That's how she wins tomorrow night, in my opinion.

Agree.  The ideal response would be to quote Michelle O'Bama, "When they go low, we go high," and add "The audio speaks for itself, and Donald's response does as well.  am the one running for president, and I want to speak to the issues tonight."

Her bigger issue IMO is the leak of the speech excerpts, not because they have anything damning in them but because she's going to be asked about them, and if she flubs the answer, that will give the chattering chickens fodder for their "he has this but she has that" nonsense.

Well, I agree with both Rumpelstilskin and Headband.  Hopefully she'll sidestep the indiscretions of both Trump and hubby Bill.  It has taken Hillary considerable effort to gain the support of third and fourth wave feminists.  The fact that she elected to stick with an alleged serial adulterer didn't exactly endear Hillary to the younger women in my circle.  There's an interesting read on the topic at the link below.

If SNL doesn't get Alec Baldwin back next week to do a Trump parody "And I'm Telling You, I'm Not Going..." I am going to be insanely disappointed.
