I voted in the same place I have for the last 25 years, and for the first time ever, there was a wait, of about 30 minutes.

"Does it say something about those of you who consistently refer to the female candidate by her first name and the male candidate by his last name?  Does that insinuate that the lady is less than or that the man is more formidable?"

What it says, besides corresponding to the marketing of both campaigns, is that Hillary Clinton, unlike Donald Trump, is not the first person of her last name to have been a national American political leader.  And that when one says Clinton one may still be and often is referring to Bill Clinton.

But why let that stop anyone from making it about sexism?

I have to be at work very early in the morning so I always try to go right when the polls open and I had a 15 minute wait this morning.

Lots of people on line with gym bags and bed head, but they were there!

Marie: Don't be in such a hurry about that pretty little chippy in Frisco. Tony: Eh, she's a no chip!

In line to vote right now on 77th Street. Huge turnout! So excited for Hillary. #ImWithHer

Also wanted to mention the wide range of ethnicities on the line here. White, Black, Asian, Indian, Latino, older and younger. This is what America should be. I am so proud right now.

I still can't get excited over going to choose two horrible candidates. Can't believe this is what it's come down to for our country. We should have had 2 much better people( man or woman, I don't care which)  to choose from. Personally, it's a sad day for our country. This whole thing has made us a laughing stock. This is really the best our country has to offer?

No wait for me and my daughter. Her first time voting, but there was a small line after we voted. Heavy Democratic area - no poll watchers and not a single candidate sign.  Many races uncontested.

This is the general attitude every four years for as long as I can remember.  Something something lesser of two evils.  It's akin to the annual "Worst Tonys Broadcast EVER" post on BWW.

We have voting in my building.  (for the first time, students are not here....but obviously, I am)  I'll try to report in from time to time.

Right now? constant stream, no line

Well, that was quick and painless. Now I can get on with the rest of my fucking life as I look forward to moving out of the country by the end of the year.

At least I did my duty as a citizen of this here United States even though I won't be living here permanently.

I will be officially living abroad and flying back and forth as required.

God bless and Godspeed.

I voted here in Maryland a couple of weeks ago thanks to early voting.  It's the one thing this tax-happy state gets right.

Bigots, business owners, corporate board members, lobbyists, and trust fund babies are voters too!

"I agree with PJ that the GOP will be terribly split following this election. But a thousand things can happen over the next several years which could make that split meaningless. In any case, the split is not so much over policy, but rather, who is best suited to carry out the policy."

Goldwater split the GOP in 1964 and then they won the White House in 1968 which proves anything can happen.

Excellent point and I will remind everyone that Jeb Bush's marketing (some say for good reason -lol) was his first name Jeb so Hillary Clinton is not the only one.

Wow, I have always had to wait to vote in NC. This year it was about 30 min (early voting) which was quicker than 2012.

Anecdotal stories of higher-than-usual turnout, with lines and waits where they've never been seen before, is good news, right?

When people complain about the candidates my first question is did you vote in the primary, that answer is way to often no. If you don't vote in the primary then you really should not complain so much about the candidates. I voted in primary and my selection did not win nomination but at least I tried to voice my opinion.

Funny story. I was in Ireland last March and having dinner at the oldest pub in Ireland. The place had a storyteller and two men playing Irish songs while having dinner and a few drinks. My wife and I chatted a bit with the storyteller later in the evening and he asked where we were from and we told him the US. The first thing he said with a grin was "You people are not going to elect Trump are you". My wife and I laughed and said we don't know .

I think it is always good when there is a huge turnout to vote, that is the point of a Democracy. Others may think it is good because it favors their candidate of choice but I am just glad that in a divisive political campaign people are voting.

That's great! I've been there on vacation but never lived there. My partner has some family business interests there that he's going to be overseeing and he asked me to go with him - (he didn't want to be apart) - so after much deliberation I've decided to take "the plunge".

I am extremely happy and excited!!! Thanks again!!!

You're moving to Rome with someone you met a month ago?  Are you sure you're not going to a sanitarium?
