South Fl - pal, I know your heart is in the right place, but I think you're misinterpreting PJ's comments.  I don't think he's equating you with the likes of David Duke.  This can be difficult for my straight, white, male friends to understand, but it's not up to you when/if/how a minority group reacts to or identifies bigotry.  Stop dismissing the concerns of minority groups because you don't think it's a big deal.  

 

But, you do not need to be Jewish to recognize the classic, insidious kind of dog-whistling happening when the Trump campaign posts those types of images.  A short while ago, Dana Schwartz, a writer for the NY Observer, penned a scathing open letter to Jared Kushner, owner of the paper and Trump's son-in-law, regarding the obvious anti-semitism in the Trump campaign. I urge you to read her letter before dismissing this as political correctness or over-sensitivity.

Out of curiosity, does anyone here really believe that Obama ever personally opposed same-sex marriage, at least since he's been a well-known politician? I'm rather sure he said what he needed to say for political reasons; there was no sudden epiphany in 2012.

Thanks kdogg36 that was very nice of you. BTW I have no beef with PJ....I know him personally and I think he's a great guy...and I was only messing around. I'm basically on the same page as he is.

This entire election is a sad joke. It's no contest. HRC will win because it is so painfully clear that Trump is stupid and it's all about him. Even today after the FBI's Comey spelled out Hillary's lies and the "extreme carelessness" that put our security at risk, Trump is still to dumb to frame a response that isn't about himself. He talks about how HE was the first person to use the word "rigged". He is simply a moron.

The preposterous notion that he is better for the gay community is silly. He is not better for any group. But IMO it is equally preposterous that he is anti-Semitic. He is just stupid and I believe Hillary's people would have gotten more mileage framing it that way by mocking Trump. Trump has already stated that he never wants anyone running one of his companies who is smarter than himself. He always wants to be the smartest person in the room. "I have a good brain." Unfortunately that leaves only a handful of people in the whole country dumb enough to do his bidding.  

In spite of all the nasty and racist things Trump has said, his biggest fault and the thing which has and will continue to destroy him is his ignorance.

I don;'t think Trump is ignorant. He knows how to sell people, he knows how to appeal to those he wants something from. I think what makes him appear stupid is his inability to admit he is wrong and the inability to apologize. I worked with his right hand man at the time a few years back. He used the same Trump tactics, was never wrong, charmed the pants off of people while getting what he wanted and never really intending on following through with promises.

 The Star of David is a perfect case in point. He knew very well the symbolism, he posted it. The people and demographic he wanted to reach he did. He got a great deal of attention. When called out about it, he was able to blame the press, become the victim and make it all about himself and his followers lapped it up.

Getting this thread back on topic, if today's speech was any indication, President Obama may be Hillary's best asset whose last name isn't Warren. The president looked fired up, appeared genuine, and extremely committed to ensuring Donald Trump is allowed nowhere near the launch codes. I've read a number of articles that talked about how anxious he's been to get back on the campaign trail this year, and it definitely showed today. Chris Hayes said it best when he said "President Obama is to Hillary what Bill was to President Obama in 2008."

This is what scares me about Trump. He is truly a master manipulator...a human bulldozer that sells himself so fast and so well that you're tricked into believing the Trump mantra. These are the same tactics they used to sell Trump University to "the poorly educated", the mis-guided elderly and naive, and the angry, white male that feels overlooked and forgotten. Forget the Trump wine, they are all drinking the Trump kool-aid. This is when the subliminal messages of "us vs. them" are planted... "we are better than they are", "they don't belong here", "get 'em out, get 'em out", and worse. America just can't be fooled by this covert hatred. Where are his women supporters? Women of color? The only women speaking up for Trump are either paid surrogates that live on cable news or paid actresses in campaign ads. "Where is his African American?" (probably at Trump Tower cleaning the floors and polishing the gold). If Trump is elected, America can blame every single cable news outlet for contributing to his support.

I know a lot of people have differing views on how Hillary is not perfect, dishonest, and worse. but in over 30 years of dedicated public service, wouldn't there be someone to corroborate any concrete evidence of wrong doing? It's not like she was the dogcatcher in Bumb{uck, USA taking home toilet paper. If you really care about the future of our country, equality for all people, fixing the broken system of government, the importance of gun reform modifications, and more, it's hard not to get violently angry at this bastardized, perverted circus, and the grotesque red-haired clown that leads them. (He actually gives "Penny Wise" a bad name).

Many consider "extreme carelessness" to meet the standards necessary for a "gross negligence" criminal statute. Comey didn't and that is a judgement call on his part. I think that's why so many are riled up over this seemingly contradictory presentation by Comey. At the very least, it affirms what others thought about Clinton's horrendous track record of honesty and trustworthiness.

Now is the time for the "I made a mistake.  I put our nation's secrets at risk.  I apologize for my lapse in judgement.  It won't happen again." speech that she should have given a year ago but couldn't in the face of all the pending inquiries.  Her ardent supporters will vote for her regardless, but the speech would help justify the choice.  

 

Come on Hillary.  Do it for us.

She has. She's apologized before and continues to acknowledge it was a mistake. Considering her trustworthiness is at an all-time low, that doesn't really mean anything. We know politicians will say whatever they need to for survival.

What would be better is for her to hold a press conference where she addresses, in great detail, the discrepancies & contradictions between the results of the FBI investigation -- 100+ emails marked "classified," the revelation of multiple private servers, the questionable decision by aides to wipe clean previously-unknown devices, and the discovery of 2,000+ additional work emails not originally submitted to the FBI -- and her now inaccurate public statements going back to March of 2015 wherein she stated they only had one private server (a lie), wherein she claimed she only used two devices (a lie), wherein she claimed she never received any emails "marked as classified" (a lie), etc., etc. 

And then some of you wonder why the general public feels the way they do about Hillary Clinton....

This, like every recent political cycle, has exhausted me already. You have to love that Paul Ryan is suggesting Congressional hearings over this, yet, they can't seem to do their job regarding the latest Supreme Court nominee.

I very rarely now read any politically motivated news article as I'm not sure what qualifies as clickbait anymore.  As a result, I tune out. I don't know why, but I watched the first 15 minutes of The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell, and he he kept saying the same thing over and over again throughout those first 15 minutes.  I came away with, and your point is.  It's just too much.

I agree, mostly.  The trust issue is partially based on a belief that she doesn't take these issues seriously, making her seem like she is above the law.  The public does forgive people who appear humble and who indicate they will use what they've learned to do better in the future.  I'd like her to say she appreciates the thoroughness of the investigation, was appalled to learn the FBI considered some of the material to be classified at the time it was sent, and that this has lead her to understand the State Department, White House, and Department of Defense (and maybe others) need to do a strict audit of their data transmission practices, something she will instruct them to do once she is sworn in.  She will also appoint a special director/commission/whatever to advise her on these matters.

There were, in fact, 200+ emails as part of 50+ threads already marked as classified, according to FBI Director Comey. How would she just now be learning that if they were marked as such at the time of their original transmission?

Before we ask this woman for a mea culpa, before we ask her to hold a press conference to blah-blah-blah-blah, FIRST I demand that we ask Barack Obama to apologize profusely over and over for emailing with his Secretary of State on her private server...and THEN I demand that we force Colin Powell and Condeleeza Rice to enumerate the classified emails they transmitted on THEIR private servers and THEN I demand that Paul Ryan subpoena Karl Rove and force him to enumerate every classified email that he transmitted when he ran a private server for Bush and Cheney.

Rove deleted 22 million emails. Why are people like the Headband only concerned with what Hillary did?

End this silly witch hunt and get on with the business of winning the Supreme Court.
