You can actually see that Roxy's thread was posted a minute before yours. Let's keep this one going.

SO SAD.

I think "Unbelievable" was in reference to the death.

Unbelievable was in reference to the death. I am absolutely shaken.

And for the record, the 1:04 stamp on the other thread refers to when I changed the title for the third time, as TMZ went back and forth with what they were confirming. It was originally posted before 1. It really doesn't matter (and wasn't about "my" thread at all), I just hate multiple threads on the same subject, especially a death. We tend to mourn and share memories and it's nice to have them all in one place. I'll change the title of the other.

I'm really shaken too.

First I loved his music, then I discovered what a musical genius he was.

And still so active in his career.

Wow. This came out of nowhere. He had been ill lately - but his reps attributed it to the flu. No cause of death has been reported.

He was a pretty big influence for me in high school. In '84 it was all about "Purple Rain". My childhood heroes are basically (almost) all gone now.

I was kinda turned off him the last few years, but his talent and star quality were undeniable. Sad.

Horrific news

Some albums I loved- others not so much

But at every moment he was a musician of supreme genius

True genius, not the celebrity version

I still can't get over the fact that he died 2 months after Denise "Vanity" Matthews' untimely departure.

nya nya nya, you can be first, Roxy.

Anyway, I'm devastated. Jackson, Bowie, Prince, so many music icons gone, and too early.

I just heard the news and I'm gutted. Prince was one of the greatest musical artists of all time. This is just awful....

I am just floored. I did not know about the emergency landing a few weeks ago to take him to the hospital.  Saw him 3 times in concert. Fell in love with him at the Controversy concert and have been a fan ever since. May he rest in Peace. He was a musical genius.

I hope Phil Collins and Cindy Lauper are well

Dearly beloved, we are now gathered here today to get through this thing called Prince's death. I'm here to tell he was something else. We're here to celebrate his talent.

Stunning and in a state of shock over Prince's passing. This year has been a ridiculously bad one so far starting with David Bowie--and I'm still sad over his like many of us here. This is a bad sign, I tell you. I relate to both in different ways. Pop culture is far less interesting without someone of Prince's calibre and genius. He was so incredible and talented..and he was funky. Minneapolis had a bonafide music gamechanger in him. Love his music. Never went to his concerts but I know some friends who have and are bigger fans than me. He took music from several genres, playing numerous instruments, and made it all his own with aplomb--and later influencing many other artists regardless of genre since. The fact lots of celebs are sad over his passing and even the Minnesota Wild and Minnesota Twins are paying tribute to him says something and of the mutual respect he's earned.

Worth noting here that one of Prince's proteges Denise "Vanity" Matthews died weeks ago. She oozed sexy. So hoping (faintly) for a Prince and The Revolution reunion.

One final trademark "Owwaa!!" in tribute
