Michael Strahan Leaving "LIVE!"

All is sweetness and light this a.m. She had a great opening line about ABC having snipers on the roof trained on her to make sure she did not stray to far off the mark. She handled it very professionally probably more than they deserved.

If people tuned in expecting a bloodbath,they left disappointed.Nothing happening here folks. Move it along.

She stood in front of the camera at the top of the show and addressed it. She said apologies were made and she addressed homesty in the workplace. She said she was told by Disney that "Live" was a priority. So that insinuates no extension of GMA. But who knows. It could morph into "GMA LIVE with..".  He said he is glad that she is back and said he would be right down the street if she needed him.  She expressed her love for the show and for him and they pretty much jumped right back into the show. Unless he said something before her, he didn't say anything about his end of things.

yeah, though I'm sure she had a team help her write that speech to make sure nothing was worded poorly. Though after her speech, she seemed a little distant from Strahan. But as it has been mentioned, nothing really worth reporting about & I'm also sure ABC/Disney will throw some $$$ Ripa's way to keep this under the rug.

I dunno. I think it's possible to be happy for someone you care about in a situation like this, yet still know and feel the sting of being done wrong. I'm also not convinced that Michael has deliberately done anything wrong to Kelly. I feel like he must have been following directives regarding secrecy.

These types of 'secrecy' directives happen in many business situations, not just the entertainment business. As an example, when I was informed of my promotion at work, I was told not to discuss it with any of my co-workers, as interviews were still being conducted. I had to keep my mouth shut for nearly a month, even though I knew I had the job. That's just how things work.

I feel bad for Kelly because it's never easy to swallow your emotions in circumstances like these. I don't know if "glass ceiling" is the appropriate term, but given her talent, I feel like it might have been her getting the new position at GMA if the target audience were predominantly males instead of females.

She's had to prove that she'd "click" with Regis - she did, then he retired. She promoted Michael, and built a chemistry with him (well, they both did, together) - now he's leaving for a promotion. Now she'll have to demonstrate chemistry again, with a third co-host, and in spite of what she's brought to the table, no one's felt that she was professional enough to be kept in the loop during the process (Michael aside, as he probably had little control over what he could say to her).

So, she comes back to the show today and behaves like a pro. She's impressive as heck. I believe her when she says she's happy for Michael.

This was never a question of Kelly Ripa being upset that Michael Strahan is leaving for GMA, it was about how she was told. This was about the consideration and the respect she deserved. 

Like she said herself, it isn't just a workplace for her - - - it's her second home, and when family lets you down it hurts. So she's human and she needed time to process Strahan's departure and how it was handled. 

She said: “After 26 years with this company, I earned the right.”

Damn right she did.

I'm glad she gained the perspective that she needed to move forward peaceably. 

I think she's a class act.

That's particularly true in the gov't contracting space.  If the contracting organization doesn't exercise an option to extend the engagement or if it choses to re-compete a contract early, outsourced employees can be let go with no notice.  I've signed my share of NDA's and have been on both ends of it.

I don't know the terms of the contract between Strahan and Disney/ABC but he could have easily been bound by a corporate gag order.  Haven't tuned into the series since it was still called Live with Regis and Kathie Lee.

yeah, like I said, something else is taking place behind the cameras that nobody will tell(at least not now). I'd be willing to bet that Ripa asked for this. Her body language on today's show spoke enough to say she doesn't want to be near Strahan.

He's leaving early because he can't stand her and she can't stand him. And Gelman can't stand her either. And it's been that way for quite some time. She's as phony as a three dollar bill. She's a second rate soap actress that caught a break. Now she thinks that she's the queen of daytime T.V. and that her s#!t doesn't stink. I don't get her appeal. Can't stand her. Never could.
