Breaking News: NERDS Postpones Broadway Run |
To anyone who can't see it.
"Here we go...my thoughts on this whole NERDS situation...
We were literally in the middle of rehearsal yesterday when we got the news. Needless to say it felt like the rug had been pulled super hard right from under us. I didn't see it coming. My heart broke and to feel the energy in the room shift from utter silliness to devastation is something I will never forget.
But this is a testament to the group of people I had the pleasure of working with for the past few weeks. We cried, we hugged, we grieved, we got angry, but then we all vowed to come back today and send this show off in the best way we could - our first run-through with a small group of loved ones.
This show deserved so much more and it continues to break my heart that more people will not see the utter comedic brilliance that Erik, Jordan, and Hal created with nerds the musical. Nor will they see the amazing direction by Casey Hushion who made the room so positive and so comfortable, that we were all allowed to make our silly choices and not ever once feel judged.
Thank you Bethany, Ira, Jennifer, David, Angie, Sarah, Jennifer, Lauren, Jennifer, Johanna, Matt, Andre, Aaron, Jordan, Denis, Rachel, Joshua, Lee, Daniel, Nevin, Jason, Carol, Jason, Adam, Nadia, Telsey, and everyone else I didn't get the chance to meet for everything. I'm sad that NY and the world won't see the end product of all your hard work. It's been a pleasure working with you guys.
And to my fellow cast members: Rory, Bryan, Lindsay, Patti, Rob, Benny, Kevin, Katie, Tracee, Pierce, Josh, Bethany, and Luther - it breaks my heart even more that more people won't see your comedic BRILLIANCE. And dammit we would have had an amazing time together at the Longacre!!!!! I mean the #BackstageAntics alone would have been legendary! I know this show would have opened up so many more doors for all of you and you guys deserve every ounce of success. Please don't ever give up, no matter how much you want to right now.
This business has its utter highs and lows, but man this low is probably one of the lowest I'll ever feel. We all gave up so much for this chance and although it's scary not having that paycheck, We #Artists are survivors and we'll keep on hustling.
Thanks for reading. Ray signing out."
