Anyone catch the pilot on Hulu? A fun time travel miniseries from Stephen King and J.J. Abrams. I really enjoyed the pilot episode a lot. Though with the set up, I think I already know how the series will end. Looks to be a fun ride though and it is nice to see vintage 1960s cars all over the place.

LOVED the book.  One of King's best.  I was hoping it would be a feature film, but I'm glad this is happening, regardless.  I need to catch it!

I'm thrilled they went with this format.  The book is a sprawling epic that affected me a lot, so I'm so, so happy they're giving it the time to tell the story.  There are differences between the novel and the mini-series so far (of course), but it's hitting the right notes.  Sam Shepard was terrific in the first episode and Franco is actually perfect for the role.  As for the ending, Snafu, if they stick with the book (which I think they will) you'll get something really beautiful.  The end of the book was very moving and left me utterly satisfied.

Just watched episode 4. That was the year my parents got divorced. The stigma! His car, the pink one with the fins is the same car my Grandfather helped my mom buy after the divorce. Looking back, the early 60's seem so alien! To think in six short years Woodstock would happen and set American culture on it's ear!

As someone in high school I was extremely confused by the clothespin reference. Can anyone tell me what it means?

I read it as a reference him being Gay. You have to realize how Puritanical the view of sex was in the early 60s. Polite Society would find metaphors for such things. It could as well be a reference to an S&M situation, equally taboo at that thime.

Having read the book, I think the clothespin is meant to be taken literally; I always imagined it clipping together his foreskin. Johnny's sexual hangups are much more explicit in the novel.

I'm enjoying it a lot. The physical production is superb, and Tonya Pinkins is doing particularly lovely work (and I think it was inspired to make Miz Mimi black, which she wasn't in the book).

It's quite different, actually, but I think all the changes work.

Do Hulu shows ever wind up on Netflix or Amazon or even TV? I would really like to see this but I just cannot justify joining another service or have any friends that have this.

Luckily,  it's been a while since I read the book,  but I can recognize some of the changes.  So far,  I think it's very good and even startling how some scenes settings are EXACTLY how I imagined them (the dance and Oswald's neighborhood,  for example).

I am really enjoying it and LOVING the early sixties period! They are doing fantastic job of creating a time and place. I will probably read the book once the series is done. I don't want to spoil this for me now. James Franco is great in this!

My guess is no (because then it wouldn't be exclusive to them). I could see it being released on DVD (Netflix originals like Orange is the New Black and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt have been). I have Netflix, Hulu and Amazon and while Hulu doesn't have many originals I usually find things to watch on Hulu (and I think it's only $8 a month). I also think you can get a 30-day free trial.

^But the problem is Hulu releases the videos on a weekly basis like its regular television. It also has commercials if you don't have the full version. I would recommend that you get Hulu when the last episode airs so you can watch them all. Or make sure you have multiple emails.

I'm sick at home and watched all 5 episodes thus far- safe to say, I'm hooked. I'm not familiar with the novel, but it's certainly very compelling, and the 1960s worldbuilding is excellent. There are only three more episodes, so I am very curious to see how this all resolves.

OK, just watched the last episode. It sort of ended how I thought it was going to except for the part where he was informed nothing would change. A bittersweet ending that made me a bit misty eyed. A very satisfying miniseries!

I could see this end up being an anthology series.
