Is anyone else watching Louis C.K.'s new web series? I watched the first episode last night and was completely taken by it. It is unlike anything else. The best description I can think of is Cheers meets Eugene O'Neill by way of Louie. It has a terrific cast (Louis, Steve Buscemi, Jessica Lange, Alan Alda, Edie Falco, with guest appearances by the likes of Laurie Metcalf, Kyle Beltran, Rebecca Hall), and each episode is more like watching a play than a TV show. I also saw a special thanks to Annie Baker in the credits and thought to myself that that made perfect sense. Another fantastic creation from Louis C.K. if you ask me.

Yes! I love it! Your description is spot on too, couldn't say it any better. I've seen the first three and can't wait for the next episode to drop. I think I sat with my mouth hung open during most of the third episode. Either you know by now why, or you will know.

It really is, as you say, unlike anything else. But trying to peg something that it's sort of like ... it's *sort of like* if some of those really early "teleplay" type shows on television had been given free rein when it came to subject matter and language. Again, like you say, it's more like watching a play.

Definitely a fan!

Episode 3 is basically a Laurie Metcalf two-hander with CK that was pretty phenomenal.

Thanks for starting this thread. I meant to but never got around to it. You also made me aware that episode 3 was now out which Laurie Metcalf being in it has me beyond excited. Your description of the series is spot-on. I was initially very excited as soon as it was released but then reviews I read said it wasn't very funny so I put it on the back burner. That was a mistake because I thought the first episode was phenomenal...and extremely funny. The second episode didn't do it for me as much but I think it was more of the strength right out of the gate. I loved the awkward Tinder date with Kyle Beltran though. After watching this I could hope nothing more than for Louis CK to write a stage play. Maybe not necessarily act in one but certainly write it.

Purchased, downloaded, soon to watch episode #4.

When episode two was released, Louie said on his website:

"Warning: this show is not a 'comedy'. I dunno what it is. It can be funny. And also not. Both. I believe that 'funny' works best in its natural habitat. Right in the jungle along with 'awful', 'sad', 'confusing' and 'nothing'.

I just think it's fair this one time to warn you since you have every right to expect a comedy from a comedian. I will not warn you again."

Holy crap, just watched the third episode (finally). As everyone has said, Metcalf is phenomenal, but we also see some of Louis' best acting at the end as well, not to mention his writing for the episode. This is truly one of my favorite "TV" shows that I've seen. I can't wait to see where it goes.

Also, while I like the lack of information that we have about the show and any upcoming episodes for the reasons Louis has given, but I do look forward to the day that he starts giving some interviews on the making of this show.

ALSO, how can I get an audition to play his son (Horace IX?)...you know we have to meet him eventually and it at this rate it will be a darn juicy role...haha

A little bit worried about that ominous ending to episode 4! Hope nothing happens to Uncle Pete...

Just watched the last episode. Bravo, Louis, that was a risky endeavor and it was phenomenal. Thank you for that story and for that art.
