It's having it's regional premiere this summer. Are there any links to the filmed version? Would love to see the london production.

The DVD is available from Amazon, but you'll need to watch it on either a Region 2 DVD player or switch your computer settings.

I saw the show in London a few years ago, and while being very patriotic (maybe a tad too much? After all, it played in Britain, not the US, and I'm American either) I thought it was very good show with a good score and fantastic lighting design (the simulated the attack on Pearl Harbor just with light and sound and it very effective). I'm glad I saw it, but I always thought the story might be more successful in the US, just because it such an American story, even if the love story at the core of it is of course very universal.

It's having a regional premiere in upstate NYC for a 3 week run so I'm assuming it won't be making it to Broadway.

"

Where?

And why does that mean it won't make it to Broadway?

Disaster is on Broadway and that premiered IN NYC. At this point I've seen it all.

I went to the broadcast in movie theatres and left at intermission (cutting the attendance for the screening in half).  Painfully bad and even just half of it felt interminable.  The first act finale is an embarrassment.  The only reason I can think of to watch it is to point and laugh at the musical numbers in-between fast-forwarding the dull book scenes.  Should it ever come to Broadway, expect it to go the way of Scandalous and Amazing Grace (as it did in the West End).

I've seen the DVD. The book needs work but I've since begun reading the novel and the scenes in the show that I found poorly developed are lifted nearly word for word from the novel so I guess I can't fault them for staying true to their source material. I found the score enjoyable with "Fight the Fight," "Run Along Joe" and "Ain't Where I Wanna Be Blues" standing out to me as the most pleasant. I also got a kick out of the brief reprise of "You Got the Money" sung at the gay bar.

The staging was simple and sometimes inventive, the scenery and costumes were spectacular and the actors were giving it their all. I liked Robert Lonsdale very much. The show should have worked but I think the first few book scenes did it in. The DVD is poorly edited but I enjoyed it for what it is.

I found Londsdale's voice so nasal. I can't stand it.

It was a very frustrating show, loads of good things about it, but a terrible, terrible book.

Why don't you go? Why don't you leave Manderley? He doesn't need you... he's got his memories. He doesn't love you, he wants to be alone again with her. You've nothing to stay for. You've nothing to live for really, have you?

I thought this show was a little boring and bland. I only saw the recorded version, therefore it might have a different feel seeing it live!

I caught this in Auburn this past week. Tim Rice and the rest of the team were in attendance at the performance and it looks like they've done a ton of work on it since London. I thought it was quite good, although not without its issues. Any one else planning on catching this run upstate?
