I thought it was devil dogs but to each his own. We saw her in Vegas and saw no need than to try and go backstage. We enjoyed the show and went back to the casino

"Attacking someone's principles "behind close(d) doors" hardly seems like a classy move to me but rather a way to avoid the scrutiny of other posters on this board."

When things get personal then IMO it should be handled privately.  Also, IMO it is not classy to post something somebody sent in a PM.  Fine if you disagree but just stating my opinion.

"Oh please! He posted on here and Pm'd me pretty much the exact same thing.  If he's going to call me an excuse for a human, all social niceties are gone. "

Whatever, just stated my opinion and how I would have handled the situation.

From Dolly to Roxy--but that's how things flow on here.

Roxy surprises me sometimes with the memories he has of forgotten theatrical treasures and I am fascinated to learn from his experiences.

I do get an image of him now spending a tad too long commenting on almost every thread with pointless entries which basically only say that 'I am here and need to join in'.

Constant comments that don't contribute [aka about the cost of living ] and unfortunately detract when you CAN amaze me with your tales of the past.

Keep on sharing but please try to hold back--just a little.

SL.............x

PS I realise I have no right to tell you or anyone else what to say on this free board--I am just so thankful it is here so I can be a part of something that I will never physically be able to do again.

How does one handle things privately when the other person refuses to correspond?  I was attacked privately because it prevents him from retaliation by the same mods he runs to whenever someone says something he can't defend.

Sorry to hear the last thing you said . We see less and less now due to financial constraints - we are both on Social Security and 2 pensions so basically our disposable income has been halved. . . We see what we see and that is it

Take care.

By the way. his post is probably still up. I took mine down and apologized. I have done all I can do. He fired the first shot and I mistakenly answered back in kind which is why I apologized and removed it.

This is why people like Patti Murin denounce these boards.

As he is prone to saying: sometimes people won't agree with you and you need to learn to deal with it!

His way of dealing with it is to block people and then passive aggressively remark about how he's blocked them and so can't see their messages.

Yes Roxy, you go on jumping into every thread and telling people why they are wrong or what they should do.  Terrible that you can't afford to see the theatre you want, but constantly complaining about it or deciding what other people should and shouldn't do because you can't feels more like a pot stir to get attention than honest commentary on said subject.

And blocking someone and then signing out to read their posts is just ridiculous.  Again, you've had conflicts with many, many posters here.  How is that all on their end and none on yours? It's great that you've seen so many great shows in the golden age of musical theatre, but all you seem to do is use them (and the ticket price back then) to moan about theatre and the people who still believe in it.  Whether your thoughts are honest or not, it all just feels like an attempt to get people heated up and start an argument. You invite it and then run to you Mommy when you get called on it.  That's all.

Can we continue dream-casting now? Who's playing Horace?

Has there been any announcements/buzz about further casting? So far the confirmations were Bette and David Hyde Pierce. I think Kate Baldwin was confirmed - but I cannot find it in any official articles.

Does Gavin Creel have a shot? I wouldn't mind seeing Zachary Levi back on Broadway...

Kate Baldwin was mentioned here as playing Irene Molloy, but that hasn't been announced officially. (I definitely hope she is cast, because she needs the high-profile attention this production will bring.)

I would like to see either Gavin Creel OR Max Von Essen OR Jeremy Jordan as Cornelius but only Andrew Keenan-Bolger as Barnaby.

Somebody else suggested this before, on this thread or another, but having just watch the She Loves Me stream, I agree that Nicholas Barasch would make an excellent Barnaby.

Any word on who is standing-by/alternating for Bette?

I wonder if they'll ever get to go on or if they'll cancel performances when she is out. If they choose to go on with the show, then I say get Donna McKechnie to stand-by much like she did in THE VISIT.

Jo Anne Worley will be Bette Midler's stand-by just as she was Carol Channing's back in the original 1964 Broadway production.

I don't know about standbys/alternates, but if this production succeeds - I really want to see Tyne Daly replace Bette. Oooo and Marin Mazzie.

Obviously one needs not be a great singer to portray Dolly, but I have no desire to see or hear Tyne Daly croak her way through a musical ever again.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

I thought I had read somewhere that Bette will do 7 shows a week and the alt. will do the 8th, which makes me wonder if the alternate/standby has at least some theatre notoriety.

The stand-by thing has been a constant rumor that has never been actually said in any way by the production- I will be surprised if Rudin decides to do that
