Taylor Trensch was superb in POSTER BOY at Williamstown Theater Festival this past summer, and his voice sounded spectacular. He's improved leaps and bounds from the early days of his career. I'm excited by his casting if this is true.

Overjoyed about Gavin Creel and Kate Baldwin. So so happy for Jennifer Simard - she deserves all the roles and success she gets!

Pretty ridiculous that they aren't revealing her performance schedule before tickets go on sale.... Not sure when to buy for. Taking my mother, a huge Bette fan, who specifically requested it be a Wednesday night. I'm assuming that a Wednesday evening will be a pretty good time to see her.

If I recall correctly, she isn't doing matinees. Or was that just an early rumor?

I'm surprised the matinee "replacement" was not announced with the cast in the press release...

Maybe there isn't going to be one and she will only do 6-7 shows per week...

The lead cast is also primarily white. I wonder if they'll get a POC for Minnie Fay. It's not unrealistic for a late 19th/early 20th century Manhattan designer's apprentice to be black, is it?

Seeing as how Hello, Dolly is miles away from any kind of "realism," there's no reason why this revival shouldn't have a rainbow cast.

Do you guys think that they will reuse the staging and choreography of Gower Champion??

I hope they change to make it fresh but only please keep the original staging of Put On Your Sunday Clothes. It's such a spectacular number and I have seen some very awkward dancing in that song in some productions....

There will be brand new choreography with small tributes to Champion's original work, a'la the Chorus Line production at the Stratford Festival. The iconic pieces of staging and choreography will be seen, but the rest of the choreography will be Carlyle's.

Hello, Dolly! is a pretty ideal example of a show that can be very easily diversely cast without "historical accuracy" being cited. Hell, there was an all-black Broadway cast and that was back in the 60s.
