Bates Motel Return 2016. |
slow moving?? Maybe, but it's setting up the break-up of Norman & Norma. And I think we'll see Norman go full on crazy at Pineview.
I loved the little touch of humor in the episode, when Norma emerges from that water hole with soot all over her face, and that dorky hat and slicker outfit. Then, the way she was darting back and forth arguing with Norman over who should check in the new customers. I had to chuckle!
This is turning into what I was afraid of. Norman is well past where he seemed to be in the film inspiration. They have 17 more episodes to go (if they remain to 10 per season). It will mean really slow story arcs. How much crazier can Norman get?
" How much crazier can Norman get?"
I think when he officially becomes Norma, no?
He was Norman/Norma in the movie. He is way crazier at this point in the series. He has already become Norma numerous times.
I don't mean an occasional lapse into Norma, I mean when Norman's gone. he's still Norman most of the time in the show.
I've just watched the episode where Norman is dressed as Norma making breakfast-so perfectly underplayed by Freddie. Dylans' reaction was priceless and he played along beautifully [I always feel he is about to cry--my shoulder is available]. Everyone in the series is so well cast. Norman is nuts and Norma is not far behind. I think Patti would have made a great singing Norma [you know which[Norma] I mean].
yeah, Norman's not 100% crazy/up to the movie version crazy. He still rebounds back to Norman when someone else interferes(Sheriff, Dylan, Emma), but he now thinks Norma killed everyone, and that is now in the back of his mind.
Norman was never 100% his mother in the movie. They would argue. He would refer to her in the house.
That'a why she has no insurance. She's lucky Nestor makeup man Carbonell, likes her!
I'm already loving this season. The scene with Norman and Emma's mom was brilliant.

"makeup man"?
In interviews, Nestor Carbonell has said those are his natural lashes, upper and lower. He does not wear any false lashes or eye liner. He knows that it doesn't appear that way because few men have the lush lashes that women crave, but it's the truth.
I've read those interviews but it's easy to see that the amount of natural black eyeliner on his lower lid varies in intensity from time to time. And the blush is easy to see, too!
p.s. I'm a fan of makeup, though so don't get me wrong. he looks great!

"Seriously! He should do a Maybelline commercial with all that liner. I love him too though. And I just want to hug Emma to death!
When I looked at Nestor in the very first episode I saw a remarkable likeness to Tony Perkins. I still do and wonder if the casting was deliberate .
I was thinking same too Jane! They do look alike. especially their long skinny bodies.
I always thought "Mother" was a lot older in the movie, almost like a Grandma. I wonder if when he kills her it will take place in present, or Fast Forward to the future so they are same ages as in Psycho.
Did we ever see Mother in the film, except at the end when she was a shriveled skeleton in the chair?
No that was it. OK. I did not think of that. so I guess if Norman is in his teens now, he was in his 20s? in movie. She could have been dead for a long time if they do not Fast Forward. They are covered either way. Thanks!
I feel such a ninny as I thought 'Emmas' Mother?' But then on checking you are all into season 4 and I have just finished 3.
I watched some utube interviews as a result of a post here and had totally forgotten that Freddie has such a beautiful English accent[of course]. Even with all that screaming he never slips back to his English roots but he does have that unique breathy/throaty sound.
Loved it when Vera mentioned in an interview she did authentic Coatian[?] folk dancing-you just never know what people can do.
No Jane, we hear Norman arguing with her from inside the house. We think we see "her" during the shower scene.
