I am a fan of the TV show The Honeymooners. I just got told that the musical ended. Does anyone know the chances of this musical being released onto DVD? Thank you.

It is weird that they scrapped the regional premiere and now it's stalling getting to Broadway.

I've looked online. I found some Broadway shows that were recorded and released onto DVD.

A tip of the iceberg compared to shows that open. Believe me short of a naughty version there will be no dvd or CD of the show. A shame but that's life.

Good cast but does not fit with todays Broadway sorry to say. Nick & Nora had great leads and looked what happened there. Great casts mean nothing if people do not want to see it. Millenials who go to Broadway today will have no interest it .

The Honeymooners name has value. Actually, had value may be more appropriate.

That 2005 film killed the property.

Also, it's one of the most iconic roles of all time. Imagine it would prove very difficult avoiding Gleason's shadow.

Wasn't Megan Hilty involved with this? I want her to do a musical soon!

I have a feeling this will come off as one of those lame musical Honeymooners segments of The Jackie Gleason Show.

gypsy101, who is "they"? No one has ever seen the show.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Has there ever been a even somewhat mildly successful TV show to Stage adaptation? I mean off the top of my head the only one I can even think of is Addams Family and that did not go very well.

TV show to Stage just seems like a really hard jump to make for any property. How do you capture all of the essence of a TV show's lengthy run into 2.5 hours without making it seem like a long musical episode of the series?

And in a world that is currently hungry for shows that are more innovative and break the traditional theatre mold, can something like this survive? Just the very concept of this feels like a Honeymoon in Vegas waiting to happen all over again. Something that might end up being genuinely good but struggle to find an audience and attention amid the rest of what Broadway has been offering as of late.

I think you're all probably right about it not having a good chance, but it bums me out because I love Michael McGrath.

Even Lane & Neuworth could not make you forget  Astin and Carolyn Jones. The same will happen here only magnified.

Was anyone at the Lab/Workshop presentation today? I'm curious to know what kind of shape the musical is in. The property its based on truthfully doesn't excite mt too much, but its a stellar cast. Saw Kritzer heading to it this morning and think she would just be awesome in this. And Hank Azaria can really do no wrong in my book.

It was in SPECTACULAR shape. I think the speculation about the show pre mature. It would be a great addition to Broadway eventually.

Was at the reading. It was fun and successful on many levels.   It would be a welcome addition to  Broadway if the critics don't slam it for being hopelessly old fashioned, light  and not exactly new.  The casting of Michael McGrath as Ralph Kramden and Leslie Kritzer as Alice was perfection. They suggested Gleason and Meadows but still made it their own.  They were delightful and genuinely made me smile. They totally worked it.   The music was quite good albeit old fashioned Broadway which I happen to love. The choreography by Josh Bergasse for the male chorus especially the bus drivers was stellar. There were full out production numbers at the reading.   If it comes to Broadway.. more of that please.  Unfortunately the casting of Hank Azaria and Laura Bell Bundy was serviceable but kept you yearning for Art Karney and Joyce Randolph.( I couldn't help thinking--that's not quite Trixie and Norton)  In some ways it did resemble the musical "The Honeymooners" on the Jackie Gleason hour but I found that aspect of it  a nostalgic treat. I loved those mini musicals on the Jackie Gleason show.  Great supporting turn by Michael Walters. Good old fashioned Broadway. The question is.... Can we handle old fashioned Broadway  anymore??
