Hi,

So I got a pal box Hamilton seats as a special gift at the box office, and she was so excited she posted a picture of the tickets on social media where you can clearly see the bar code (she took it down but it was up for 2 days.) Can a scammer duplicate the tickets from seeing the bar code? Someone on here said that once. Thanks so much for the help guys and I hope everyone has a great holiday season.

Unfortunately, yes.  But since your friend has the original tickets, she should be fine.

Thanks so much for your reply! I wasn't sure if it mattered who had the original ticket or who scans in first. It's such a bummer that such a question has to be asked.

Given the ticket scalping problem at Hamilton, one solution may be to go to the box office now--in advance of the show-- and explain the concern. Your friend may be able to just exchange the tickets for ones printed with a new bar code.

I had a problem once with an envelope arriving in the mail from Ticketmaster that had been opened, and though my ticket was in there, I was concerned about the barcode.  So I called Ticketmaster and they voided that barcode, and issued me a new ticket. I was just thinking that the box office should be able to do something similar, though I don't know for sure.

I would do what everyone else is saying. Usually they never mind giving you new tickets (like if you deleted an email with e-tickets and so on) and would especially replace them with the type of situation you're in. The staff at Hamilton has been ringing up so many duplicate tickets with the same barcode and fraudulent tickets that it's become routine. They want to avoid the situation as best as possible. I'm sure they'll understand.

Or just get there early and make sure you're scanned in first! And afterward, please post how you found the view from the box seats.

Thats exactly what I did last week. I bought a ticket on StubHub and was really afraid that it could be fake/duplicate. To make sure, I was there really early and was the first in line. In the end, everything went fine and I really enjoyed the show :)

Good thing to do is write the tickets you have with row seat etc. Once misplaced them.

we waited till everyone was seated, no one came and I think I dropped them. BOY FROM OZ..

Should be OK with original tickets in hand, but asking for replacement or getting there early certainly can't hurt.
