Hi everyone. I've been a long time reader, and have only decided to make an actual account now. I was wondering if anyone has tried the rush for Color Purple? I am hoping to go this weekend and was just wondering how many people to expect, and how early I should get there.

I went on Monday and go there around 8:30am and was about 5th in line. I've heard they only give out 20 tickets, so keep that in mind, and be aware that everyone can get two tickets. By the time the box office opened there was a pretty long line.

Where are the rush seats located?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe they're side orchestra and boxes.

Thank you RippedMan! And just double checking, when the box office opens at 10 you can purchase a ticket for either the evening or matinee performance, correct?

I was about halfway in the line, but everyone I saw before me got box seats, including me. And I'm not a fan of partial view, but these seats (in the boxes) were really great. It's a small show, and no set changes, etc, so you really don't miss anything and I didn't miss any of the big entrances or moments. The only part was Mister's second act solo has a bit that happens on the extreme sides, but this is suuuuper minor. It's worth it!

At the box office today, I was informed that rush is only in the boxes, but they also have a limited number of same-day $59 partial mezz  and partial orch seats. She told me people start lining up around  7-8 a.m. Cheapest seats if those are all sold out are $85.

I rushed today. Got there at 7am and was 3rd in line, the two gentleman in front of me were together and got 4 seats. I got two: Box C seats 1-2.

If the show is sold out (which is quite likely), I would recommend standing room (only $30). It's right behind the last row of orchestra, and offers a good view of the whole stage. It's a long show but great performances and numbers made it go by so fast!

Also limited view for this show means nothing honestly. I did row I "limited view" and missed nothing, I know this because I've seen the show a few times, all in different locations. Definitely worth it for the price, if ever offered.

On line now (Saturday, got here 8:15). About 30th in line (planning to get $59 PV). They're doing the load-in for "American Psycho," which is making the line a little hectic, but definitely less monotonous!

Rush today had 3 "groups:" $35 boxes, $35 "very partial" according to the gentleman in the box office, and $59 "less partial" when the first two groups sold out. The girl in front of me got the last $35 rush ticket, and I picked up the first pair of $59 "partials," which are actually full view center orchestra, just separated by the sound board so my friend and I can't sit together. (Which is fine with me! It's not like my friend and I are going to talk during the show, and having a soundboard for a seat partner means one fewer possibility of an annoying texter next to you!) For those keeping score, the last matinee rush ticket at the $35 price point went to a girl who'd arrived at the theater at around 8:00. I don't know about evening.

Anyone know if the SRO is only sold after they've sold the last ticket for that performance, or if they are sold when the box office opens together with the rush and partial view tickets (because they assume it'll be sold out)?

They sell SRO when sold out: someone in front of me wanted to get SRO instead of partial rush, and the BO declined.

Have you tried TKTS? I was there last week, and got 40% for front mezz, 4th row aisle seats. Pretty great price for the seats.

I went last Tuesday, got there a little while after the box opened.  The rush tix were gone but I was able to get a $59 partial view row D orch seat.   I don't think I missed anything with the seat technically being partial view as most of the action is in the middle of the stage.  The only part I couldn't see was the far right back corner.

Walked past the theater this morning on my way to do rush for The Crucible and there were about 50 people in line for The Color Purple at 9:50am. Only one person was doing rush for Hughie.

I did rush last weekend for the Saturday show. Got to the rush line by 8, and would guess at least 20-25 people ahead of us. When we got to the box office window they told us they were sold out for the evening, but we were able to get rush for the matinee! It helps to be flexible with your show time, if you're rushing on a double show day.
